easy run around anzac park. nice to be out in daylight on a weekday. gave my left ankle an excessive stretch, but nothing too nasty.

mainly core stuff + some arms and squats. major fail on plank things - I think my elbow is somewhat busted from my crash last week and the point on the end is really painful. oh well.

mtb ride with Dan at Daisy. was way too tired. Dan dragged me out on some of the hard trails I don't ride very much, and I ended up walking quite a bit. was fine once I got back on the fun easy stuff though. great breakfast after with jen, denise and steve. headed down the coast for a surf/splash.

Running long 1:52:00 [3]

long run from my place around coottha, with a new track! route was anzac park + foot bridge, up past the gardens, slaughter falls, up toilet block track, down to simpsons falls, up zigzag. out to the ring road, where passed a guy walking with 2 fluffy dogs for the 3rd time. took a track off the sharp right hand bend, which Dan had told me about - he said it joins up with toilet block, but this one turned out to be an overgrown walking track that came out on the art trail at slaughter falls. (double win, cos that was a good track and there's still another one to find). ran out back past the gardens and over the bridge.
hip was a little tired at the end.

was planning on running, but that plan was quickly ditched in favor of drinking too much wine with helen in commiseration (celebration?!) of her newly single status.

Cycling 1:30:00 [3]

mtb ride with Dan. afternoon loop, summer edition - with an extra loop in the forest above chapel hill. had a small win in that I rode the switchbacks at the top of frosties for the first time, but then got really tired and had to walk a few climbs, and crashed on an easy step up in anzac park. not too much blood.

night ride at Gap Creek with the crew from Simon's latest mtb course. Good group, and good ride, although I'm still a bit rusty on the mtb. riding bronwyns in the dark was intestesting, especially cos I haven't riden it at all in years(!?). Simon put on a good bbq after, with some monteiths golden lagers (advertising for next years NZ trip I suspect).

Long run from my place. with Clare, Mark, Ian and Mat (minus the goatee, much to everyones relief!). Did Dan's 'afternoon loop' - to slaughter falls via the anzac park bridge, then up the track to the left (Bob's - the homeless guy who used to live there), to the summit and all the way down the dream to chapel hill. lost Mark there. then back to my place via anzac park.
coffee machine copped a workout when we got home.

Note

spent the afternoon treking around toowong and auchenflower looking at units in preparation for serious house hunting in Jan/Feb. did find one that we would probably buy if it was an option at the moment.

plod home from work, with Mark for the kelvin grove to toowong part. legs really tight, and felt pretty crap, and spent ages waiting at red lights.

night run at coottha from Wendy's with Wendy, Narelle, Lance, Trev and DAN! omg 2 runs in the same year, and even in the same week!

pre-pizza gym session. warm up on the rowing maching. mainly core work - plank and side plank on a medicine ball, with weights. pushups, crunches with weights, and some squats and lunges with about 60kg. good stretch after.

mtb ride at Daisy with Dan, Brett and The Beard. surprisingly un-unco after a lot of months off the bike, but legs had forgotten how to pedal.
tracks were a bit slippery after a few showers, and we got rained on at the end.
starving by the end, and breakfast and coffee was great.

sat morning run from Clares. big crowd this morning, and even Dan decided to run. my run was fairly ordinary. not feeling the greatest after excess beer consumption yesterday arvo, and really struggled. even missed the still-slightly-pissed start to the run, so it just all hurt. the run did the trick thou, and I felt quite ok after. awesome breakfast.

Note

a couple of hours walk looking for some old bores, based on some sleuthing, satellite photos and guesswork. totally unsuccessful, but a nice wander away from the noise of the drill rig. awesome area for orienteering - lots of rows of small sandstone hills, and open grassland between... just a pity the grass is spinifex. (oh, and the fact that its 4.5 hrs drive from alice springs)

run from anomoly 15 back to the camp. sandy and slow, and didn't feel too great after a day in the sun watching the rig.
