hot yoga. lots of hammy stretching - which I definitely needed. also turns out my lats are pretty tight - no surprises there. the strength stuff was certainly easier than usual after a weekend off running.

Late arvo swim at UQ. The pool was pretty busy after a hot day, but fortunately there seem to be a lot of swimmers of a similar level of slowness to me, so it was ok. I was planning to do 1km, but then got into a bit of a groove and did an extra whole 500m.
my technique is obviously rubbish, but I try... todays struggle was to avoid doing the pool version of a chris froome impersonation.

Cyclones sprint at ferny grove primary. Hot day, and had a fairly aggressive calf massage this morning so took it super easy. No pain in right ankle, left ankle tendinitis a bit irritated.

Foot has cracked the shits with me and other leg is complaining about cycling so figured I'd better swim. Been about a year and a half. Definitely back in the slow lane but luckily not quite as slow as the fat ladies doing breaststroke. I seem to have kept some muscle memory from my last swimming attempt because i wasn't quite as bad as expected, but i still had to call it quits after 1 km as my hand was cramping.

Mtb ride in tewantin forest with Dan and his parents. Pretty stop start but a nice outing. We did an extra loop at the end. Dan's mum is crazy - she'll try to ride just about anything, on a rigid bike with a slick back tyre.

I think summer has finally cracked me. The air con at work (which has been steadily failing all summer) finally died completely - so today we were trying to work in a sauna with a waterfall from the ceiling. eventually we all got sent home. I tried to work from home, but by then I was pretty overcooked. despite all this I decided to stick to my plan to do the anzac park time trial for the first time this year. the first few hills were ok, but overcooked pretty quickly. struggled on - at least I've got an easy time to beat!

Cemetery hills - 1500 m x3, 50 m climb. hurty, hot. it was good to get out, and get this session done. Legs were pretty tired after yesterdays hills and i realized i haven't had much water since yesterday morning. Oops.
the view from the top of the hill at sunset is pretty nice.

Lap of enoggera dam with Wendy and Caroline. Swim in the lake afterwards. Lots of people out. nice run and felt like a good pace.

Orienteering race 18:15 [4] 3.0 km (6:05 / km)

Cyclones sprint at QUT kelvin grove with courses set by Lauren. We had some major issues with the SI - mostly with the download station refusing to work. phone a friend option eventually worked, but then we had some problems with the way the event was set up, and 2 SI units were swapped in their brackets, so we needed to fix the courses. I got some of the problems sorted, but handballed the event setup/start time issue to Tony and went for a run - 20 mins after course close. not my most focused run.

Lauren did a great job setting the courses. a few problems with the rest of the event, but its whats between the start and finish that really counts.

Very easy run from nth Kirra to d-bah and back. Trying not to irritate my calves too much. rainy afternoon and got a bit cold. It was amusing to see all the surfers crowding on the blown out shit surf at d-bah and snapper while the north facing breaks looked really fun and much less crowded.

River loop with Clare. Very hot out early, but only getting hotter today. legs not cooperating - getting pain behind my left knee and can't put any power into the pedals, so fairy pedaling for me today. oh well.
