Swim at centenary pool with Dan. Water temp seems to have dropped below 30.

Mtb ride with Dan on coottha and gap creek. Rode a bunch of trails that I've run heaps of times but never riden. Found a new tail as well.

Intervals at UQ - moved so that Caroline can make them now that she actually has to turn up at uni.
2 x 1km, then 1 x 2km. 2.30 recoveries. the 1kms were ok, but the 2km was a bit of a blowout. left leg got a bit tight.

Feeling pretty rubbish after spending the day crowbaring soil samples in the sun (which the back also really didn't like). bailed on training - just tried to do some work stretching out the back.

training at toohey forest and peggs lookout. compass first, then control picking intervals and then a shortened middle at pegs. very rusty, and some good training. hot, which made running hard, and my back made running in terrain pretty awkward.
nice swim in Caro's Nan's pool.

cyclones sprint at centenary. great little map, but couldn't stretch out and run properly.

6 x 1km with 2:30 recoveries. sciatic pain was giving me some grief warming up, but seemed ok with the intervals. a bit slow to start, but managed to keep them pretty even.
4.08, 4.03, 4.03, 4.03, 4.01, 4.04.

hot yoga. trying to stretch my back out. somewhat successful.

City run, post storm, but still some very light rain. heaps of lightning still about - pretty good show over the city. big strike as I was running through the city, everything around me crackled. looked like it got 1 Johnson.

hammy/glute/sciatic tightness down left leg which got a bit tight at the end.

morning training plan got canned when I woke up with a massive headache. opted for a sleep-in in air con instead. way too hot for the rest of the day.

MTB at Hidden Vale with the guys, before it got too hot. same loop as last week, although I didn't attempt the rock drop. temp went from about 33 when we finished to 37 by the time we'd had post ride burgers. pretty happy to be drinking beers rather than riding then.

Mtb at hidden vale. did the ride we bailed on a few weeks ago. trails were dry this week! had a crack at a couple of the rocky bits that I didn't ride last time in the mud, and got them. then I had a go at a big double rock step and had a massive OTB fail. a bit of bark off, and a bit bruised and crumpled, but somehow came out of it amazingly well given how far and hard I crashed. bike is fine. continued ride - some great trails at the top of the mountain. burgers and beer afterwards to ease the pain.

nap on the tiles in the afternoon, half watching cycling - trying to stay cool and avoid moving.

Mtb ride at Daisy with Dan, James and Pete. Dan sneakily got me a new bike for my birthday - giant anthem 1, so took it out for its first ride (same as the bike I test rode last weekend). super fun!

4 x 1 km. hammy/back was a bit better this afternoon, so decided to give intervals a go. ran with Caroline again, but she smashed me this week. first one was ok, second was hard, last 2 were slow as my legs tightened up.
3.58, 4.01, 4.11, 4.15. ~2.30 recoveries.

rest of session, including some drills on the warm down.
