Running race (SS Sprints no.3) 18:31 [4] 4.5 km (4:07 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 31

A very good course set by Paula. Felt a little tired from Avoca weekend.

It didn't help that I parked in the Aquatic Centre and saw three of the control points.

No 10 was the talking point of the Sprint with "some" people leaning over the fence to get the control point instead of going around as the map suggested.

Only time I got slightly confused was when going for the first and last batch of control points.

Running (Intervals) 45:00 [3] 7.57 km (5:57 / km)

Back for Rd 2 of intervals, legs were pretty much dead as this point and required a kick-start.

Short Loop

1.27
1.29
1.26

Long Loop
2.57
2.48
2.49

2.45

After the warm-down feet were pretty rank, got some blisters to attend to. Rest day very much warranted.

SS Balmain Ballast Point race (orienteering) 45:22 [3] 7.54 km (6:01 / km)

Driving for once to the event instead of being chauffeured, I wonder if that is why it went wrong for me.

Initial thoughts was to take the southern headland but the proximity of controls on the northern headland was too tempting.

Final route choice was 7,30,20,26,19,29,6,18,28,8,17,27,16,5,15,25,11,21,9 for 390 points (22 seconds late). 9 was a mistake as should have bolted down from 21 to 1 and got the desired 400 points. Yes Mark, beaten again by you (watch this space).

Overshot 10 too many times and that stuffed up my desired route choice which was to also include 4,12,24,2,1.

Legs felt pretty drained from the start as was recovering from a 30 min 7.5km run the night before. That and the combination of stairs just destroyed the body overall. The only good side of the run is my knee or non-existent quads felt decent, so now I can ramp up my distance and cadence in preparation for the Canberra Half Marathon (<100 min goal).

Running 30:01 [4] 7.5 km (4:00 / km)

Everything just clicked into place.

Session ended with a good massage of dencorub on the knee and stretching. Housemate was not impressed with the smell though :P
