Pilates 40:00 [3]

Monday morning pilates session. Hamstring seemed OK for this (but flared again after a day sitting at work). Still learning how to position myself for a new set of exercises.

As you'd expect, there was a lot of shell-shockedness in the office today (and in the climate science community more generally - some have taken it pretty hard and we'll need to do some looking after each other in the coming days). I was perhaps taking it a bit better than some, partly because I remember what happened the last time a government won one more term by running a successful negative campaign against an opposition with an ambitious policy agenda. (It was 1993, and they got smashed the next time).

Found it hard to concentrate on getting much done, at least until the afternoon when the time came to dig out some interesting Sydney numbers which I'll be deploying on the ABC at 6.40 tomorrow morning (unless the ABC has been abolished in the interim).

At least the assorted mix of warning lights in the car proved to be indicative of a cheap-to-fix problem and not an expensive one.

Note

Got an e-mail this morning headed "Greenpeace Australia statement on the 2019 election result" (I seem to be on the mailing list for various random media releases). They could be well justified if the statement consisted of a single word, beginning with F, but it actually ran to several paragraphs. (Anthony Albanese, famously, did actually once issue a single-word media release).

Also in my in-box this morning was an overseas job offer. Not planning to take it up unless things go pear-shaped here, but there's some comfort in knowing the existence of options for a plan B should one be required.
