Never got properly going this morning - not sure whether or not to blame going out earlier than usual on a Saturday, although it didn't seem to hurt on Christmas Day. (Can't blame the heat - it hadn't started warming up yet). Did manage to grind reasonably well up the hills coming back; this has been the case for a couple of weeks now and gives me some encouragement, although I haven't done anything on the scale of Arthurs Seat (let alone the Pluviometer) yet.
One of the quirks spotted at the cricket is that you see plenty of flags and shirts for English football team, but almost none for the big teams (West Ham, Norwich and West Bromwich Albion are about as mainstream as it gets). It seems that the more obscure the team the greater the street cred, with special bonus points for non-League teams (I was particularly impressed to see a Winchester City shirt). I was a bit worried I might have been mistaken for the Barmy Army myself as I realised halfway to the station that I was wearing red, but it didn't happen, amongst neighbours who were a good deal more sober and more congenial than yesterday's (including Ricky Ponting's high school principal - you won't be surprised to hear that Ricky gave considerably more attention to his cricket than to his studies).
