Orienteering 2:12:19 [1] *** 8.0 km (16:32 / km) +170m 14:57 / km
20c

made most of the mistakes early through the first six controls and after that started to get better. probably the best I have ever run in the woods trying to keep the effort easy just like my long run pace. This is the first time ever finishing a blue course. I thought I might be close to the three hour time limit and was easily in on time. My endurance was fairly good since I have not run for this long for sometime now.

Running 34:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:30 / mi)

trail run.

Shooting 1:10:00 [1]

trained at the indoor range. Very crowded had to wait just to get a shooting lane so all high powered pistol shooters around me. Had the hot brass coming into my face so had to wear glasses to cover my eyes. the shooting only went OK. Between all of this plus all the burnt out lights on the range which was only enough light as seen about 30 mins after sunset. Worked on biatlon shooting more using five targets.

Running 1:11:00 [1] 9.0 mi (7:53 / mi)

early run in the cold and dark. Daylight savings will change this! Just the usual run trying to run a tad harder on the uphills. for the most part this was a fairly flat run.

Running 40:00 [1] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

recovery day.

Shooting 1:15:00 [1]

after a member of my club asked me three times to try air rifle I figured I would take him up on the offer. He said he would provide everything if I would give it a try since he thought I would be good at it. Air rifle is somewhat different in that the trigger pull was set a 5pds, the gun is weighs five plus pounds and the rounds must be individually loaded. Each target is only shot at one time. For the first try shot 87 out of 100. He did not want to change the trigger weight since you have to take the gun apart. If I had my own I would change it to be more comparable to the 22 trigger pull. Shot only prone since the canister was getting low. shot 50 rounds total.

Running 55:00 [1] 6.0 mi (9:10 / mi)

ran around the cross country course that will be used in the upcoming race. I asked the groundskeeper before running on it to be sure it was OK. He was very helpful showing me exactly where the start and finish are located. ran some extra on the grounds.

Weightlifting 1:10:00 [2]

arrived at the gym a bit early so started to work out anyways. Did running drills, reverse crunches, planks, stretched, rows, squats, split squats, tricep pull down.

also spent some time planning out the next six months for racing.

Shooting 1:30:00 [1]

indoor range. the coaching really helped since the prone shooting went really well. Since that was going well worked more on standing. Shot 150 rounds.

Biathlon 30:00 [1] 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)

ran 3 X one mile and one time half mile. Shot twice prone and twice standing. HIt five and four prone and one and two standing. used different ammo and when I went to zero put all five rounds through the ten ring. This time for all the prone used the method started on Sunday. Not able to do this once I went to standing since you have to shoot differently standing. This will be addressed in our next session.

Running 32:00 [1] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

recovery run. First really cold day to deal with. Time to start putting the gloves in the gym bag could have used them today.

Shooting 20:00 [1]

dried fired prone. Went over what I did yesterday for training. the coach said I will have to do this about 500 times to finally get it to be natural.
