Nice to be in a forest, not running particularly hard. Internal sense of direction just did not match up at all with what the compass said and was not focussing enough on it leading to a lot of banana-ing into controls. More training required before BUCs next year.

Starting with Mia so working together for the first 100m or so then slightly ahead. Grassy was a bit wet so kind of slippy in places, but happy with the pace and mental focus surprisingly good considering this was straight after an exam.

CUOC training at North Cambridge
Probably one of the best orienteering trainings I’ve done for ages- really having to stay mentally on top of it. Reading the way out flowed a lot easier than reading the way in, I guess because there’s not a easy place to stop so had to keep going. Legs feeling quite tired so didn’t really run as fast as would have been ideal to get the most out of this but still difficult anyway

Good session, working hard and trying to start faster to stay with the pack for longer, which was kind of successful

Had an afternoon supervision that meant I couldn’t go to the session and right knee been feeling a bit niggly the last couple of days and it was sunny so decided to take it easy and cycle instead.
Out along the busway to Swavesley with a lovely tailwind, then back through Longstanton into a less fun headwind.

Nice sprint training, score course so didn't know how to pace it, probably should have gone a bit faster but still made a couple of small mistakes. Updates to the open Omap meant it wasn't bad, but would be a quality area if there was a real sprint map.

British Long Champs at Kilnsey
Plan was to start slowly and get the navigation right which worked fairly well. A bit scrappy in some of the control circles but otherwise surprisingly good compass meant that it was pretty clean. Still unsure whether the left route on the long leg was better but given how tired I felt on the hills at the end contouring round was probably best for me. Overall reasonably happy, just lacking the running speed to keep up with the others.

British MSR Champs at Bradford Uni
Solid runs from the rest of the team to send me out in 5th behind Zoe and Grace but they had a longer first gaffle so caught them and was running with/behind Grace for most of the course, just overtaken by Cecilie near the end and came back 4th by a few seconds. Good to be running with people as it made me push harder, probably should have pushed a bit more to get those 10s to third but had no idea where we were. Navigating pretty well generally, except a couple of dubious control descriptions which threw me and took the wrong route to 9 because I saw Grace doing it. Definitely much more my kind of sprint area and really enjoyed the format.

Feeling good, strong on the box jumps and good depth on the single leg squat, even managed a solid number of chin ups on the purple band. Hopefully will manage a few of these sessions this term and therefore some progression.
