RUN warm up/down 5:00 [3] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Talon 212 #1

Not much of a warm up, as I thought I would work my way into it

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 20:44 intensity: (5 @0) + (5 @1) + (11 @2) + (48 @3) + (19:16 @4) + (19 @5) 3.99 km (5:12 / km) +54m 4:52 / km
ahr:157 max:167 shoes: INOV-8 Talon 212 #1

1st of 3 short races, Mass Start

Hard to keep up with the pack to one, got in contention by 2, then when I got to 3, the padlock had come undone, and the control had fallen down, so I fixed it up, not a easy thing to do while PPL are trying to punch it. But it was a blessing in disguise, as the 'pack' mispunched on 4, then when I got 5 cleanly, I was in the lead. Finished 5th, but the 4 in front had been to the wrong control, so.....

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 24:59 intensity: (4 @2) + (39 @3) + (24:09 @4) + (7 @5) 4.26 km (5:52 / km) +53m 5:31 / km
ahr:145 max:167 shoes: INOV-8 Talon 212 #1

2nd race was a Hagaby.

Had a number of long combinations on the 1st map, so when I picked up the 2nd map, I knew I hadn't done to badly. Coming into the final split, Robbie appeared, and I knew I wouldn't get him as he had the shorter loop. Settled for 2nd..

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 27:47 intensity: (2:19 @3) + (25:05 @4) + (23 @5) 4.53 km (6:08 / km) +3m 6:07 / km
ahr:161 max:168 shoes: INOV-8 Talon 212 #1

Final race, Orientshow.

3 butterflies from the start, then into another 2, before the final 3, 72 combinations in total = mayhem

Had James and Kathryn leading on the 1st loop, did the next 2 loops cleanly, was lucky to get onto the back of Bruce going through the 2nd combination, dropped him when Robbie and I went a different way to the map change, but Bruce found it 1st, so we got out of there while Rob went looking, into the final butterfly, and I started to suffer, Rob got pass, but good enough to hold of Bruce who was on one of the other combinations

70 Controls in 70 mins of running, doesn't get better than that!!!

Thanks Invis for a great event, I know how hard it is to set up Hagaby in OE, I didn't envy you the task

PS forgot to start the GPS until going to the 2nd loop of B/Flies

MTB warm up/down 19:58 intensity: (13:01 @1) + (6:57 @2) 6.07 km (3:17 / km) +51m 3:09 / km
ahr:106 max:128 shoes: Shimano M123

Didn't get time for a warm down, so headed out late for a gentle roll.

Note how easy the intensity is when rolling along on the bike, not like the run, were I had a max HR of 167, 167, 168 for the 3 events

RUN 1:05:21 intensity: (5 @1) + (1:40 @2) + (1:01:05 @3) + (2:12 @4) + (19 @5) 13.52 km (4:50 / km) +160m 4:34 / km
ahr:137 max:213 shoes: Pegasus 27

Seeing that there is a O race tomorrow, got out this morning for a run. Up to the start of the YM run, then around the Res fence to the newcomers event, was to early to pick up controls, so after a rest and a chinwag, ran on home.

Nice to be out at a very reasonable part of the day, if you didn't know better, you could easily mistake it to being Spring time

RUN intervals 40:00 intensity: (30:00 @3) + (10:00 @5) 7.52 km (5:19 / km) +31m 5:13 / km
shoes: Lunar Racer

Decided that I had to teach one of the young bucks all about hard training, so told James to come to Wildflower Drive at 12:30, were we would do some Mona's.

I used my Lunar Racer's, as I wanted every advantage I could find, and we set of. James tried to get away from me on the 1st 90 sec float, told him to hold up, and go on the fast bit. He got away from me easy in the 1st few minutes, just like anyone who is inexperienced in what they are up to.

I held the distance from 6 through to 10 mins, when we turned, now to see if I could hold him off. It was a no contest, I failed to get back, but mainly cos I walked the 2nd last 15 secs fast, but James failed by a long way.

I think he is re accessing what hard training is all about, don't think he will ask me to do them with him again :)
