orienteering race 1:26:54 intensity: (1:14:00 @4) + (12:54 @5)

National Long race Santisalp. Lovely sunny autumn day. Open alpine terrain with some tricky patches of forest. It was physically very tough, really swampy and lumpy/grassy most of the way.
Physically I felt really feeble, I think my iron must be low again, its worse than just a bit unfit. Technically not bad a bit 'wobbly' in places and and lost contact in the forest at 8.
13th again, 19mins behind Simone, who won by almost 5mins. She flew past me at the end.

National middle race at Selamatt, alpine area about 1500m. Is was quite open with scattered trees and some interesting contour detail and rocks/cliffs.

I prepared and warmed up well and pushed hard in the race, HR pretty high! Physicallly it felt tough, very wet and lumpy underfoot and it was constantly a bit up/down, never got a break. I really felt too slow on some of the fast open stretches and unfit on the hills (not surprised though!).
Technically not too bad though sometimes a bit wobbly and faffy on the longer legs and lost time in 2 of the control circles, not taking the extra second to be sure on approach.. Focus was a bit worse in the second half, often a problem.
I didn't find the area that hard, so should have made no mistakes ;) Will have GPS to look at later.

13th/36, 5mins behing Rahel. It was a swiss selection race so the field was hard. So far my closest placing to top 10 in full swiss field? Unfortunately I'm not in better form, but there are still a few weeks till World Cup..

This week has been a flop so far training wise, I have put my energy into the start of uni (which has been great and inspiring so far, but is going to be lots of hard work!).
Anyway, got out for a short intervals session.

8x 30sec hill with 45sec jog back down.
then 4x bark chip loop 2:04-2:05 with 30sec rec.

lower calves a bit tight

normal ride to/from work, nothing else
ankle a little tender to turn but otherwise ok. should carefuly start some strengthning, hopefully ok for national races on weekend.
