orienteering race 20:41 [4]
slept:8.5 shoes: NB cross country shoes

Bryces flat NOL sprint.
I love bush sprints, no time to get bored! Pretty happy with this run, a little unsure on a few but mostly got it right- except #5 where I ran up the wrong gully losing about 90secs (Kathryn and Rachel were even further to the left which put me off i think, i knew my direction was a bit wrong so should have stopped to get it right.)
Was surprised to catch and overtake so many people but it gave me confidence to trust my self and no one else out there :) i guess the terrain suits me as i felt like i could still move pretty quickly thru the rock.

orienteering race 29:29 [5]

NOL relay leg 1.
Really stupid route choice on the first (long) leg lost me a fair bit of time. Didnt think about rc enough and peeled off the pack to run straight (over the spurs and through shitty creek) instead of seeing the track options. I realised halfway through the leg and was feeling very pissed off, though quite a few ppl seemed to be going the same way. Ran very hard for the rest of it and caught up some time. Navigation was good except for that rc.

NOL relay leg 3.
Back on the 1:5 000 map. Again not sure that my route choice to #1 was the best- this time a took the track to the right but think I would have been faster straight. Went out just behind Kathryn and a few others but managed to push my self really well and overtook them. Didnt see Tracy and Shannon who were a way infront I think.

orienteering race 1:03:22 [5]
slept:6.0 shoes: NB cross country shoes

Chewton Diggings NOL hagaby.
Very happy with this race, I was especially surprised at how much I could push myself! My orienteering was pretty clean and I seemed to be thinking ahead well. Was surprised to keep getting back to the spectator controls at the same time as Shannon and Kathryn who seemed to mostly be on different loops. On the last loop i though i would get dropped on the long spur gully legs and kathryn did but shannon and I were together till halfway thru the second long leg. Happy with route choicees. If only there were a few more controls at the end i might have had a chance to catch up! 1min down on Kathryn.

riding (MTB) 1:25:00 [3]
slept:8.5

Lovely morning ride up the Yarra tracks, with a few loops in Sherwood forest and beyond. I finally mastered the steep downhill pinch which has always stopped me in the past!

riding (commute) 1:40:00 [3]
slept:8.0

Rode into uni twice because there was a 7hr break between class and aths. Once I get some uni work I should be able to stay. Rode in with Jess in the morning :)

Running intervals 17:00 [4]
shoes: Nike Structure Feb 2010

Melbourne Uni aths!! Hopefully this year I will actually join and commit to more than two sessions ;) Ran with the 'middle' group doing long intervals around Princess/royal park.
7 + 5 + 5 mins hard with 4min recovery. Hard but not flat out.
Tried to use arms to make my legs go faster when I was getting tired at the end. Arms got tired!
A few girls around my pace which was good.

Running warm up/down 55:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Structure Feb 2010

Warm up round the track then out to the parks. Incl recovery jogging in between ints.
Happily my legs didnt complain at all about this session (yet) despite ITBs being a bit tight and some sore spots lately (outside below right knee esp).

Strength 10:00 [1]

Exercises after aths. situps, legs, pushups, core. bit brutal.

stretch/yoga 10:00 [0]

I am logging stretching when I do a proper set of stretches, cos i dont think i have been doing enough.
AM, with training, PM.

orienteering 40:00 [3]
slept:7.0 shoes: NB cross country shoes

Beechworth Map. Lovely pre breakfast run, the forest was so nice and cool. Rocky course with lots of controll. Messed up #3 in the green and Reubs caught me 2mins but after that I was good and got away from him. I just love this map!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

orienteering 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: NB cross country shoes

Kangaroo crossing. Very tricky area! First loop 20mins, flatter with rock- went well, using compass and bare rock. Second loop 30mins on rocky hillside which was really tricky with low vis- I lost quite a bit on a couple. Great area. The mapping was a little different to what Im used to so it almost felt like being in a different country or somewhere really unfamiliar. Really gotta go back there for more training!
Thanks to Jim for organising training. If only we had more time!
