Not a big fan of early start times even though getting up at 6am helped.
Main issue though was that I was coughing a lot and my throat still didn´t feel so well.

Last official race. Felt already before the start that I was missing the power/energy. Still started the race as usual but did way to many mistakes/inefficient routes in the tricky parts. Adding that to the "slowness" showed up in the gap to the lead. Could have anticipated the tricky section more and then put more effort into it. Was the last race and I was happy to end it, still a disappointing performance.

PWT No. 4 - Olympic Park, Beijing

Actually this race is one of the most disappointing of this year.
Was quite cold and my throat wasn´t better either. Still in the race I didn´t had any issues with that. Start fast and found well into my race but failed towards the second control. Thinking I was higher up I decided to run down and ended up at control 3. totally overwhelmed I needed time to figure out a way to the 2. control. After doing that and running back to 3. I again couldn´t translate map into the terrain or vice-versa at all so made another big mistake to the 4. In total I lost from the 1.-4. about 2:00-2:30´. After that I found better then expected into a flow again. Either way such mistake times just take you out of your race (not mentioning the results itself).
I am still not sure how it ended up so badly in that part but I believe I just didn´t thought about any tricky parts when I took up the map and had a short full glance at it. So mentally I got directly overwhelmed by the sudden "over"-difficulty and reacted poorly..failed there! Learning the hard way.

Ehm yes I actually won this stage. Just an incredible day, standing next to Leandersson and Michels plus beating a lot of other top athletes was just great!
Before the race I felt confident and really motivated, especially after the bad middle and not running at all the previous day. I started very well into the race and found directly a good flow which I kept towards the end. Some small mistake to the 6. control but in generally really smooth. Caught the french runner starting before me half way through and saw him often with like 100m in front of me still.

PWT No.2 Beijing

Felt not very well since the morning, slept the whole drive to the CC but still didn´t help that much. Slightly sick and energyless. Warm up was quite short therefore. Started fine, but messed up the second and third control. Restarted. Fell downhill on the way to the 6. and had to walk some meters. Lost my flow and also my motivation there and took a bit of power out, finished the race that´s all to say.

“Some activity” Beijing

Well our organizers didn´t really know what will happening either so they thought it´s going to be (as last year) some activity with some chinese orienteers. Well it kind of was but more the race like type. No warm-up, plus massstart. Everyone raced off so I followed suit, ended up alone 30m behind three chineses runners. Could have caught them quickly but heard before something like "let the chinese win" and was confused by everyone else not running so fast. Then the french guy came and said we can´t let them win, so we started pushing, catched them and lead the small group. Then I was leading for a moment but fell in a corner. Everyone passed me then.. in the end came out there was again some small price money (~100euro) for the top3.. was fun anyway besides the fall and therefore broken tight plus wound at the finger..
