Running 55:30 [3] 10.0 km (5:33 / km)
Did most of a day's work and got a lift down to You Yangs to go for an easy run at Rock around the Clock (2x5km loop around Flinders Peak). The "easy" part didn't really happen as I am too competitive, apparently.
Noone was taking the front row at the start, so I slotted myself in and ended up leading for the first 200m. A couple of guys went past (including the eventual winner, who was on the phone to his Mum at the time). Held off any other ladies until 1.8k, but luckily there was a hill coming up and she walked while I went past her. Unfortunately the uphill was followed by a longer downhill, where I lost time, and she came past me on the flat bit. Overtook her again when we started going back up to the finish, and went through the first loop just in front (27:08).
Then did it all again (28:03). I think she got in front of me on the rolling hills at the start of the loop, but then started to walk. Figured I had her, but was running scared and came in about 45s up.
This run was a demonstration in my ability to run up hills, and my lack of ability at going down them!
Acquired significantly more alcohol on NYE than I drank :)
