Orienteering 26:07 [3] 2.79 km (9:22 / km) +54m 8:32 / km

Creswick training warm up exercise.

A course through the gold mining. Legs feeling pretty dead, but navigation was pretty good.

Orienteering 49:32 [2] 4.27 km (11:37 / km) +70m 10:44 / km

Map memory exercise with Jayne.

Gave up when we got into what would have been the fun technical stuff because we were being eaten alive by mozzies. Interesting to realise that you can navigate map memory.

Orienteering 38:00 [3]

Last course of the day.

Was going well and was about to pass Simon by taking the direct route choice through the green, but then went up the wrong gully on the other side and it didn't make sense. Damn. Now I can't tell what's gorse marks on my legs and what's mozzie bites.

Bright 4 Peaks - Buffalo

Again, the mass start didn't work so well with a big queue on the swing bridge, and then got stuck in a train going up the hill until the fire trail.

Struggled through until Mackie's and got passed by a few people, but smashed past them on the rocks :) Loved this bit as usual.

Sat on the back of a woman who is training for the 100 mile race from Falls in a few weeks - I don't know how you could even consider signing up for something like that! Felt a bit bad when I went past her (and a few others) on the steps to the carpark at the end.

Ended up 1 min quicker on Buffalo than last year - not having come down Feathertop a second day must have made a difference!

Woohoo! Legs been sore since Sunday morning, and was much slower than the last 2 years except today, but still amazed and impressed I got up all of the hills on pretty minimal training.

Bright 4 Peaks - Hotham

What would you rather do on your birthday??

Enjoyed the first 6km (but was imagining Jayne on my tail overtaking me on the downhills - not that I'm sure I would have got away on the uphills...) and liked wading through the knee-deep river.

Hiked up all the uphill bits. Did run along the spur in the middle - it was pretty nice! Started seeing bits of snow from about 8km.

Had a chat to Kirsten Fairfax on the wall, then went up above the tree line. Forgot there was still a bit of climb to go. It got pretty freezing (was wishing I stopped to take out gloves/extra top, but didn't want to stop) but wasn't too bad once on the Razorback.

Loved the finish (and they didn't even make us cross the road).
