Note

#EurovisionMSW races 5 and 6, VU St Albans and Parade College

At the end of the day I was asking myself 'What's the Pressure' (Belgium, 2016) after everyone else had everything so under control.

Thanks to the organising team, course setters, controllers, helpers (including those who helped set up early despite being up at 2am mopping up 'Midnight Gold' (Georgia, 2016) after the beer-o).

Only 61 days until the Eurovision final!!!

Orienteering 15:53 [4] 2.8 km (5:40 / km) +44m 5:16 / km

#EurovisionMSW race 3, Deakin Waurn Ponds

Same pace, much the same result. 'J'ai cherché' (France, 2016) not really for the controls.
5 PM

Orienteering 17:37 [4] 2.79 km (6:19 / km)

#EurovisionMSW race 4, Kardinia College

Nice new area for everyone (even got to admire the view on my course). By some kind of 'Miracle' (Azerbaijan, 2016) I got all the controls in the right order (I saw Belinda out there at times and she seemed to be doing something completely different). Didn't have to 'Slow Down' (Netherlands, 2016) too much to navigate as I was already fairly slow. Legs were feeling pretty tired by the end.

Orienteering 17:21 [4] 2.8 km (6:12 / km)

#EurovisionMSW race 1, RMIT Bundoora.

Back to where last season ended. Clean run, just slogging it the whole way round at my one pace.

The Sound of Silence (Australia, 2016) in the arena due to not being able to find a working PA was a bit of a pity (must remember to think of it earlier next time), but everything else went well.

Orienteering 16:07 [4] 2.8 km (5:45 / km)

#EurovisionMSW race 2, Melbourne Uni.

Felafel lunch was noticeable when warming up, but not while running. Was feeling less tired than I expected on the course which was a pleasant surprise. Maybe I was just excited at running round my old stomping ground. I was surprised we were allowed to run around Systems Gardens so much at the end (my old hangout).

Not really many mistakes, except I wasted a bit of time when 'I didn't know' (San Marino, 2016) which side of the wall the tricky control was on (but did check out the next one on my way. Same plodding pace. Could 'Hear them Calling' (Iceland, 2016) in the finish chute thanks to the uni's PA.

The bottom pic is from Romania in 2012. Watch if you've ever wanted to see a moonwalking bagpiper (who hasn't?).

6 PM

Running 28:17 [4] 5.1 km (5:33 / km) +19m 5:27 / km

Sprint training around Clifton Hill and Quarries Park.

Legs/lungs felt rubbish - had one slow plodding pace only, but it felt like a massive effort. Only the garmin kept me pushing. Slow pace made the navigation easier though. A few legs where I'm not sure I got the best route.
