Orienteering 27:38 [3] 4.1 km (6:44 / km)

Sprint into Spring, Latrobe Uni Bundoora.

As much as I wanted to run CB1's course, my motivation level was about 0 - wasn't sure if my knee would be ok (it was), too hot, got a cold, tired, been at the event for ages.

Just slogged around.

Riding 45:00 [3]

Only logging the ride home because it was such an effort. Almost had a cry at one stage. The wind had changed and it was gusty and apparently Plenty Rd doesn't have a bike lane.

My own fault for being too stubborn to accept Dave's offer of a lift.

Running 5:00 [2]

Legs didn't want to move. Then my knee started hurting. Boo.

Orienteering 5:00 [2]

Did a few controls of Mary's course. The relay looked like fun (but way too fast for me!).

Core strength/stretching 5:00 [2]

Core.

Running 1:41:20 [4] 10.46 km (9:41 / km)

Mt Buffalo.

Tired. Virtual Clare from 2013 shot off up the track in front of me.

My knee felt fine until I hit the bridge (after about 20m). Not sure if it was the steps on to it, or the swinging from the suspension, but something tweaked and it hurt when I started to try and run. Struggled mentally and physically for a long time - my legs didn't want to run, and my mind couldn't muster up the courage to force them.

Boosted by a cheer from CB1 and hit the scenic, fun rocky section. Enjoyed the rocky switchbacks through the beautiful forest and granite, and my knee seemed to be less sore. Maybe it's all in the mind. Speccy view of the Chalet from 1.3km out, and raced a young guy from there to the finish.

Hauled myself up the Chalet steps to the finish line. 4 Peaks done :) Everyone who finishes (even just 1 day) is a legend!

Running 2:26:41 [4] 15.27 km (9:36 / km)

Mt Hotham (to Diamantina Hut).

The hardest thing I've ever done?

Set off with Jayne for the first ~6km of nice undulations along the creek. Discovered the extent of my lack of descending ability when Jayne and I kept leapfrogging - me getting in front on the uphills, and Jayne taking over on the downhills. Jayne really kept me honest and I ran faster than I would have by myself.

Spent a lot of time walking on the steep section, trying to run for short sections when I could. Had major sunglasses issues - they kept fogging up on me.

Sunglasses away, jelly snake out, and a nice run along the ridge. Tried to push it a little (ie. run instead of walking!), although my knees felt pretty shakey.

Then hit the wall (metaphorically and literally?), although I was passing a lot of people going up. At times I had trouble just getting my legs to take the next step and I felt like I was about to go backwards.

Had a MASSIVE grin coming across the section above the tree line to the finish, although my knee was a bit sore on the downhill bits. Absolutely magical emerging from the trees to see the scenery. I love the mountains.
