Note

I think I went out of bounds in the quarry yesterday. The fence I was expecting to hit mustn't exist any more, so I just kept going.

Was about to go to the shops in the evening when I realised I'd better change out of my Aussie pants with the Southern Cross - probably a bit soon to be walking round Coburg in my racist pants.

Mt Tarrengower.

Given I couldn't do my Saturday morning shopping thanks to Coburg being shut down for the disgraceful rioters, headed out of town for some orienteering (and afternoon tea with the family).

I was expecting more rock and fewer contours, but it was still nice to get out. Got very confused crossing under the quarry the first time, then decided to cross back through it on the way to the finish instead of running along the road. Good way to spend the day away from the ferals (on both sides).

Coburg jog. Bonked after about 8 mins. Legs feeling very tired. And quite sharp pain in the left shin twice. Went away after a minute or so both times.

Ride to Eaglemont. Had to get moving as I was running late. Feeling very tired and lots of huffing and puffing.

Orienteering 46:14 [3]

MelBushO at Eaglemont.

Had the slight advantage of having been to all the control sites before, but still made some mistakes. More huffing and puffing, and I don't think my stomach appreciated running so soon after a cheese toastie. Was running scared because I knew Jayne was starting after me.

Riding 45:00 [3]

Ride home the same way. Stopped for a water/Tim Tam break at Darebin Parklands. Knackered.

Evening jog. Tried to race a tram, but should have gone south so it got stuck in traffic. I lost. Felt like I was moving fairly quickly along Sydney Rd.

Vic Middle Champs, Borhoney Ghurk.

I was NOT mentally prepared for this race! Early start to cheer on my Eurovision favourites (basically all of them) and straight in the car after the results. Made it to the event with 20 mins spare :) Thanks Jayne!

Thought I'd got lost before even finding the start control. I started really disoriented, which kept on for a few controls. Must have got dizzy with all the dancing in the morning. Wasn't a very clean run and stumbled unexpected across a number of controls. Only proper mistake was on 16 where I went down to the main gully without realising and was too low. A nice day out but I was pretty happy when I finished and could stop concentrating.

The apparent winners of Eurovision in my subconscious were Spain and Australia, given they were stuck in my head as I was orienteering. Although the only lyrics I know from Spain are 'Say yay yay yay' and 'do do do dup da da'.

Parkville Parkrun debut.

Jayne's enthusiasm for doing another Parkrun was much higher than mine, but had to go around by myself in the end :( Wasn't pushing as hard as I could, but didn't have that much left.

Now back to bed after a big Friday involving getting up at 5am for Eurovision (definitely worth it) and continuing on with a work Eurovision-themed karaoke :)

Happy World Orienteering Day.

Street O course through Northcote set by Carl - MFR's contribution to WoD. Legs felt a bit tired and sore at the start. Loosened up a bit but was fairly tired by the end. Ran with Jayne and did a few route choice challenges - which all ended up pretty much equal.

Street O date with Jayne, North Melbourne (she even bought me dinner afterwards because I forgot my wallet).

A good hit out and much further/faster than I would have gone if just going for a jog by myself. I need to get over my aversion to score o and actually start trying to find good routes, instead of just not trying and using my dislike as an excuse. Felt like I was moving ok in the middle after a sluggish start.

Went out control checking for the MelBushO at Eaglemont with Jayne. Hot sunny day. Should have taken a hat. Saw a fox. Had an absolutely ripsnorting headache in the evening.

Streets jog via the library to pick up a book. Felt fairly good for the first 20 mins or so which was a nice surprise :)

Super short Monday Night Run which suited me fine. Struggling to keep up with the boys at the start.

The ride home was the same distance as my normal ride home from work, but seemed a lot longer!

Very slow run down to the creek at Moreland, up to Harding and home. Legs feeling really tired and inflexible, and it was a pretty tough run.
