Running 32:00 [3]

Birthday run up the bush :) Beautiful day!

Saturday Oct 26, 2013 #

Orienteering 55:50 [3] 7.2 km (7:45 / km)

Wildflower Drive. Nice course by Darryl - lots of running at the start then into the detail at the end. I'd probably map the whole eastern end of the map as broken ground - didn't really get it in there.

Running 22:00 [3]

Little lap around Carlton Gardens.

Running 25:05 [3]

Lygon St > through uni > up to Prinny and back.

Running 14:55 [3] 3.18 km (4:41 / km)

First lap of Prinny I've done in a looong time. Put the foot down a little during the lap but felt myself slowing down a bit by the end.

I learnt at the weekend that I can usually go harder/keep going when I didn't think I could when someone's yelling in my ear.

Dragon boating 30:00 [3]

Final session for the weekend.

2 x 2km races (in a 20s boat vs the 10s). Pretty knackered but it being a race made me keep going. The whole boat gave a massive lift and grunt for the final strokes.

Dragon boating 1:05:00 [3]

12 x 200m races.

Still struggling with the person in front of me being out of time. Tried to concentrate on improving one thing at a time. Meant to be a really hard session (there was a vomit afterwards, but not from me) straight out of the Aus national team training camp, but I didn't find it that bad. I mustn't have been trying too hard.

Dragon boating 50:00 [3]

Technique training session. Back and forwards in front of the camera, not going too hard. Really struggled (as did most of the boat), and not sure how I was going to make it through day 2. I think the person in front of me was out of time, which made things more difficult.

After being filmed yesterday we got a few tips to work on. I got quite a few (and the nickname 'mushroom burger'):
- keeping top arm high and straight
- driving with the top arm through the whole stroke
- not lifting my paddle too high on the recovery, feathering the blade

Dragon boating 45:00 [3]

Can't remember what the last session was.

Dragon boating 50:00 [3]

500m, 500m, 300m x 2
In the 10s boat.

Dragon boating 45:00 [3]

Two long sets of paddling.
20 mins
15ish mins
Somehow made it through.

Dragon boating 45:00 [3]

First session of the training camp on Lake Daylesford.
Can't quite remember, but I think we did a few drills and laps of the lake.

Riding 2:45:00 [3] 46.5 km (3:33 / km)

Made a bad judgement and rode my bike from Castlemaine to Daylesford for dragon boat training camp. Took back roads: Irishtown, Glenluce, Green Gully Rd, through the centre of Glenlyon.

Running 26:00 [3]

Out for a quick, slow jog in Queenscliff. I helped with the schedule for our work meeting there, and turns out I didn't quite leave enough time for running. Went along the coast to the mud flat side, then crossed over and found the beach, which was nice. Took off my shoes and plodded along. Legs felt like lead.

Dragon boating 35:00 [3]

Feeling pretty knackered tonight.

Monday Oct 14, 2013 #

Running 27:30 [3]

Ran up the bush. Saw a big mob of roos, a wallaby and a girl from work.

Saturday Oct 12, 2013 #

Orienteering 1:00:56 [3]

Mahers Barr Cup. Struggled around a few controls. Legs really don't like moving lately. Better try to use them more and see if that helps. Fairly hot out there too.

Running 28:00 [3]

Plod up the bush. Stopped to look at the flowers. Feeling pretty exhausted by the time I get home from work each night.

Tuesday Oct 8, 2013 #

Kayaking (dragon boat) 40:00 [3]

Got put up the front today for the first time ever. I think I held it together. Had to concentrate more on keeping in time and less on my stroke.

Sunday Oct 6, 2013 #

Orienteering 8:00 [3]

Aus Champs Relay, The Gib, Bungendore.
Had a vom.

Saturday Oct 5, 2013 #

Orienteering 49:30 [3] 4.1 km (12:04 / km)

Aus Champs Middle, The Gib, Bungendore.
Pretty slow and steady race. Surprised to be mid-field - expecting to be further down. Clean run though.

Friday Oct 4, 2013 #

Orienteering 31:25 [3] 3.0 km (10:28 / km)

Centenary Flashback, Mt Ainslie. I think I was the only person (other than Mike Hubbert) who dressed up for the occasion. Best decision ever to change from course 1 to course 3. Quite enjoyed the run in the nice Canberra forest.
