Walk/jog/run to see if the ankle worked. Did a bit, but not that well. Found the rest of the team but still couldn't keep up.

Just missed the hour. Beautiful open terrain down at Smiths Reef. Seemed to be a bit more on track today and tried to make sure I was concentrating more. Really only lost time on 10 where I was a little low and didn't look right. Just need to be a bit quicker!

Warm up, drills, run throughs, warm down.

Running 24:30 [3] 4.8 km (5:06 / km)

200 easy, 200 medium, 200 hard, 200 slow jog x 3.

Then repeated. Legs felt like it was a bit of a struggle.

I got told 'you're the first girl I've ever seen use that as a toilet.' I take that as a compliment.

In the next instalment of 'where will Clare be next': went for a run around the lake at Caroline Springs and along Kororoit Creek for a bit until the path ended and there was a car of p-platers sitting in a not-yet-developed block.

Feeling heaps better today and was in Geelong so went for a run along Eastern Beach and around Eastern Park. Found some pretty cool playgrounds. Nice running somewhere different for a change - made time seem to go faster.

Very slow run. Feeling pretty crappy and very sorry for myself. Made some pathetic noises. Couldn't move my legs any quicker. At least Edgars Creek is a pretty nice spot to run/shuffle.

Idiot run. Includes 2 mins tempo effort in the middle. Was aiming for 10 mins but hit the deck along the creek. Possibly not the best idea to do tempo along the creek, although I have done intervals on that track in the dark a few years ago. I must be getting clumsy with my old age.

Orienteering 1:42:12 [3] 10.2 km (10:01 / km)

Got a bit confused on the way to 1, where vegetation didn't seem to make much sense. Was looking around for 2 on bare rock, when it was actually on a termite mound. Mat McGuire popped up again and saved the day. Absolutely no idea how I found 4. Even looking at the map now not sure how I should have approached it. Took the scenic route to 7 and lost contact on the way to 16. Matched it with Georgia on the way back from the pivot, helped by the fact that I didn't get stuck in the marsh.
Such beautiful country to be out orienteering on a crisp autumn morning.

I definitely need to get better at moving through the terrain and being more aggressive towards vegetation.

Orienteering 24:04 [3] 3.1 km (7:46 / km)

ACT sprint. Found the first 2 ok, but then went to the upper green patch on 3. Went around the back of the building to 7 which was a bit silly. Was looking around for 8 when Matt McGuire found it in the garden bed. Went ok for the rest I think, except for a detour on 11 (thought the walls went the other way for some reason). Legs didn't feel like they had much zip in them.

Orienteering 1:02:58 [3] 5.4 km (11:40 / km)

ACT Middle. Almost did a 180 out of the start, then just stumbled up the hill and luckily found the control. Found the rocks fairly hard to read in general. Got lucky on 18 and crashed through the green and came out at the control. Legs were feeling better than the morning for some reason.

Evening jog via the library, creek and gaol. The gaol smelt a bit funny. Did a few slightly quicker bits along the creek to get the legs moving.
