Gym (elliptical) 21:00 [3]

Again, legs started off feeling okay then went to shit. They started to feel really weak after about ~14 mins. The heart rate monitor thing on the machine (I don't really trust it though) said hr was around 176-9, and 188 at one stage, which is higher than usual. Not feeling that great now. I think I'll have to give up running and take up competitive sitting around.

Note

I've got a cold :-(

Running 20:01 [3] 3.44 km (5:49 / km)

Started off feeling good...legs didn't feel tired like they have been. Then the rest of me began to feel worse, then my legs got sore again. My L tibialis anterior got really tight and my feet started to clump. Legs felt really unco in the last few minutes.

Riding 54:00 [3] 15.3 km (3:32 / km)

Cruisy ride along Merri Crk (smelt like Pine-o-clean, an improvement on usual) to velodrome, then home along Upfield train line. Legs were feeling a bit better - or may just have been the lack of hills.

Note

Was going to test out the Garmin's heart rate monitor (just for something to do), but the strap is soooooo big.

Running 38:30 [3] 6.1 km (6:19 / km)

My legs just felt sooooo bad again. They won't go any faster and even going slowly feels like a massive effort. Not happy. But I did see the Black Hawk choppers again which is always a bonus. Went along Tin Alley, through Royal Park to the bottom corner, past the zoo, back under Royal Parade and home along Prinny.

Note

Oh no. Just discovered the Oceania Champs aren't in uni holidays. Very disappointed. Almost definately won't go now.

Orienteering race (Lyell Forest) 47:01 [3] 6.2 km (7:35 / km)

Navigation was pretty much ok, but my legs wouldn't go any faster - they just felt so over it and had no energy.

Riding 1:05:00 [2]

Really cruisy ride along the water race from Keogh Drv to Marnie Rd.

Tuesday Jul 17, 2007 #

Running 21:50 [3] 3.6 km (6:04 / km)

Run towards Diamond Hill and back along the creek. Felt good to start and was going to do some easy fartlek, but felt crap after first surge, so just plodded home.

Orienteering race (Oz relays) 22:30 [4] 3.0 km (7:30 / km)

Was looking forward to some mass start practise running 1st leg. Didn't quite go to plan. Once I found a map started in a mass start by myself 5'30 (?) later. Had a pretty good run anyway, felt a bit slow on the 2 controls after the spectator, but otherwise okay. Need to run 3km courses more often :-)

I'm jinxed at Oz relays; someone took my map in 2004, when I was in about 3 different teams at various stages of the day.

Orienteering race (Oz Champs) 1:08:19 [4] 7.0 km (9:46 / km)

Had a pretty good race. Lost a little bit of time on 4 and 12 but nothing too major. Legs felt really tired on the longer legs, but were a bit better on the end loop.

Thursday Jul 12, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Middle) 39:48 [4] 4.5 km (8:51 / km)

Pretty happy with this run. Took a little while to get into it though. Went to the left of 5 and didn't know what was going on, and forgot to orienteer to 10. Otherwise just little things in the circle of 4, 17.

Tuesday Jul 10, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Long) 1:37:48 [3] 8.1 km (12:04 / km)

Didn't realise I was doing the same course as MH1 until the start, but wasn't too much of an epic. Wanted to get under 100 mins and did. Found 2 before 1, lost track of the number of gullies to 7, and went past 8 by a bit - almost to the fence because I didn't see the end of the bigger rocks. Went a bit past 19 too, a little high. Otherwise okay and pretty happy to have survived.

Sunday Jul 8, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Dubbo Dash) 19:45 [4] 2.7 km (7:19 / km)

Just ran. Legs were feeling pretty dead. Didn't really have to navigate at all.

Event: JWOC 2007

Orienteering race (NSW Champs) 1:03:08 [4] 6.8 km (9:17 / km)

Started out okay and was going fine until 9 and 10. Just forgot to orienteer because I was running with Catherine Hewitt and wasn't concentrating on the rocks. Legs didn't have much left towards the end.

Wednesday Jul 4, 2007 #

Riding 1:06:00 [2] 16.6 km (3:59 / km)

Legs had absolutely no energy today. They were just rolling over, and not even quickly. R hamstring sore too :-( Went out Diamond Hill, Kangaroo Gully and Spring Gully. Pissed off by Coliban's efforts at widening a track outside the res fence. On the plus side, would be a good time to run in the res as gates are open and there are massive panels of fence missing.

Running intervals (k reps) 13:55 [4] 3.0 km (4:38 / km)

Managed 3 km reps this week:
4'48 - up
4'28 - down
4'39 - up
The last one felt the best. First one was slower than last week, but was waaay more comfortable - remembered not to go all out right from the start.

Running warm up/down 27:00 [3]

10' warm up
2'30 after intervals (had pretty full recovery - a bit of a walk, run 2'30, more walking and stretching)
12' warm down

Sore hips and left foot by the end confirmed the fact that I am a hypercondriac and should have done physio!

Sunday Jul 1, 2007 #

Riding 1:30:00 [3] 26.3 km (3:25 / km)

Went around the side of OTH and Wildflower Drv maps, around a little bit of the Wellsford and back through Kenny Res. Was raining/spitting most of the time. Felt pretty good.

Played golf this morning...moments of brilliance were few and far between!!
