Gym warm up/down 35:30 [3]

11'30" on the elliptical to warm up
24' on spin bike at the end

Gym (strength) 30:00 [3]

No idea how long it really took. Did the program I got 2 months ago for the first time. Went ok, hope I won't be (too) sore tomorrow. Both knees felt a bit funny in the 'prone holds', might leave them out next time.

Running warm up/down 22:20 [3]

Not feeling too bad. Tib ants got sore (left especially again) towards the end of the intervals, but not as bad as last time. They were fine running through terrain on the weekend.
Had been planning to go to the gym to run on the treadmill, but the sun was shining so I couldn't justify it.

Running intervals (Clara fartlek) 16:00 [4]

Got further than I ever have for this particular session. Hurrah. Pretty surprised by that. Tried really hard in the efforts to get my legs turning over quickly, as they haven't been lately.
Good session :-)

So, who wants to come for a run? One for the 'why do they bother' category.

Running 35:18 [3]

Running around Golden Gully with Dave. Had been planning to go for 40 mins, but he wouldn't let me because it was my 3rd day training in a row...yes, I know I'm soft. At least nothing hurts now.

Riding (road bike) 1:20:00 [3]

Did the Juve in reverse. Really pleasant and nice and green on the hills. Sooo much nicer than riding in Melbourne. Felt like I was riding ok too.

Riding (MTB) 15:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Skins) 45:18 [4] 6.4 km (7:05 / km)

Perfect weather for a run at Diamond Hill. Orienteering is the best ;-)
1st race - 14'28" - Ran pretty hard, lost the sprint to Neil, but I gave it my all and tried to win any way I could ;-)
2nd race - 15'40" - Took it a bit easier. Wasted a bit of time on 2 because I saw Roch and Neil didn't punch it, so I tried to work out why it was the wrong control.
3rd race - 15'10" - Was going well and had hit the lead before going low on 5...seemed to cross 2 gullies on the way there which put me off a bit. Ran at the back for the rest.

Made a fair few mistakes on all the loops from just navigating carelessly and getting distracted by all the people.

Was such a fun (and competitive!) set of races, thanks Jim!

Running 24:30 [3] 4.8 km (5:06 / km)

Did a lap of Prinny. From 6-19 mins did 30s on, 30s off. Tib ants were really, really tight, esp left leg and legs felt clumpy and got sore.

Gym (Body Balance) 50:00 [1]

Had the major leg wobbles in the last bit...it was like an earthquake. The rest was good though.

Sunday May 20, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Seldom Seen) 1:48:10 [3] 6.3 km (17:10 / km)

Look at the splits if you want to know.

Saturday May 19, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Gumble) 39:58 [4] 4.7 km (8:30 / km)

Felt like I was moving ok at the start, pity it was in the wrong direction to 5 and 8 (must have gone pretty close to 8, but found 9 instead). Died a bit in the 2nd loop, and lost heaps of time on 15. Crap run.

Gym 45:00 [3]

16' on elliptical
15' on spin bike
14' on elliptical

Had to do a few surges to stop the boredom. Legs were feeling pretty average at the start, but started to feel better as I went on.

Tuesday May 15, 2007 #

Running intervals (Prinny ints) 21:55 [4] 4.68 km (4:41 / km)

Pretty happy with the times considering how I was feeling. Legs felt really tired in the warm up. Pushed the last one fairly hard.
10' warm up
1.68km - 7'53" (3' recovery)
1.5km - 7'08" (200m walk + 3' recovery)
1.5km - 6'54"
15' warm down

Running warm up/down 31:00 [3] 5.5 km (5:38 / km)

Sunday May 13, 2007 #

Running long (res) 1:00:00 [2]

Felt even worse today. Legs wouldn't move. Hips sore since Friday, knees sore towards end of run. Tried to push it on the hills but just couldn't. Depressing :-( Will take it easy this week and hopefully feel a bit better for the trials.

Note

On a more positive note, I'm coming last in the FOOL.

Note

On another negative not, just turned on TV to watch Eurovision, but missed the first hour :-( It started at 7.30, not 8.30...12 songs I'll probably never see now :-(

Orienteering race (Sedgwick) 58:25 [3] 6.7 km (8:43 / km)

Felt like crap. Legs just wouldn't move any quicker. Navigation clean enough, just ran on compass and hoped for the last ones, which seemed to work.

Thursday May 10, 2007 #

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Running intervals 21:18 [4] 4.68 km (4:33 / km)

1500m ints at Prinny:
10' warm up
1.68km-7'22" (1st k in 4'24"-heaps quicker than 2 weeks ago), ~3' recovery
1.5km-7'01", ~4'30" recovery
1.5km-6'55"
13'30" warm down

Running short of time, was happy with the pace of the intervals, second one hurt a bit. Actually they all hurt a bit. Much quicker than 2 weeks ago, must have been because I was running clockwise. Don't know if I have too much recovery - seems like a lot compared to what some people do, but I don't think I could go again off less...

Riding 1:40:00 [3]

Speedo is broken. According to it I rode 0.17km. Went to pipe bridge and along the Yarra a bit, back to Yarra Blvd, and home via the Capital City Trail. Rode pretty easy, especially the last 20 mins when I was tired. Saw Lachie Fraser, blast from the past, at Kaffee and Kuchen just after I got back.

Sunday May 6, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Creswick Diggings long) 58:00 [4] 6.5 km (8:55 / km)

Started ok, stopped a bit early on 3. Heather was in front, sometimes in sight, sometimes not, the whole time from 3 until 10, when I took my foolproof route past the quarry and down. Found Belinda, Aislinn (again), Laurina and Heather there. Mucked up 13 - thought the control was closer to the creek and looked right while everyone went past. Finish was ok. Legs survived the weekend pretty well.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Saturday May 5, 2007 #

Orienteering race (Monash sprint) 21:00 [4] 2.9 km (7:14 / km)

Didn't intend to go out that hard this morning. Navigation was all clean and was reading the map well. Ran with Aislinn, Rachel and Laurina for bits. Got left a bit on the long slog along the ring road and across the car park.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Orienteering race (Petticoat Gully middle) 43:46 [4] 4.5 km (9:44 / km)

Feeling much better than I'd expected. Ran with Aislinn and Rachel again, until Rachel went the right way to 11. Lost lots of time there, went way to the left. Was lucky on 5, 7, and 16. Otherwise was pretty clean, just annoyed about mistake.

Thursday May 3, 2007 #

Gym 1:10:00 [3]

It was raining and dark at 3pm so went to the gym instead.
20' elliptical
15' bike
15' rowing
15' bike
5' elliptical
Seemed to be going harder than if I had just gone for a ride (which I had planned) - so only did 70 mins so I'm not exhausted before the weekend.

Wednesday May 2, 2007 #

Gym 15:00 [1]

Got exercise program from Jimbo (not Jymbo).

Tuesday May 1, 2007 #

Running warm up/down 32:00 [3] 5.1 km (6:16 / km)

warm up/down and recoveries

Running intervals 22:44 [4] 4.68 km (4:51 / km)

Legs were feeling pretty tired after the weekend and wouldn't go that fast.
1.5km - 7'21"
1.5km - 7'18"
1.68km - 8'05"
At least I got a smidge quicker towards the end. Pushed the last 400m of the last int.
