Note
(injured) (rest day)

Ankle still swollen, as is most of foot. Just saw a physio who told me to keep off it as much as possible - study day tomorrow :-(

Orienteering race 1:27:05 [3] *** 8.1 km (10:45 / km)
spiked:3/14c (injured)

Had the worst run in the history of orienteering. Could not find any controls... nothing made sense; map, compass, terrain. Main strategy used: wandering round aimlessly till I found something that looked a bit like I thought it should (didn't necessarily mean I was in the right place though). Spent ages going up wrong spurs and was almost always too far to the right...except when I couldn't be bothered using compass, then too far left.
Dad wondered where I had been all that time, so he met me at the last control...I challenged him to a finish shute race...I think we can say he won as he didn't end up lying on the ground. Ankle is swollen and blue and sore.

Note

Was actually going to do some decent training this week...isn't that what swot vac is for? That plan's off now. Study time instead :-)

Riding (Intervals) 24:00 [4] 8.7 km (2:46 / km)
(sick)

Did intervals on the bike.

1 min, 2 min, 3, 3, 2, 1 with equal recovery (started with recovery and finished hard).

Found the 2 x 3 min hard really tough, they ended up being uphill partway, and struggled getting breath afterwards, probably due to cold (was a bit better today though) and sparse training lately.

Riding warm up/down 20:00 [3] 6.5 km (3:05 / km)
(sick)

Felt really good in warm up.

10 mins warm up, 10 warm down

Running 29:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:15 / km)
slept:7.5 (sick)

Went round Prinny...still not feeling good. Shins were annoying, it's as if they're stiff down near the ankle...can you get stiff shins?

Riding warm up/down 25:00 [2] 8.0 km (3:08 / km)
slept:9.0 (sick)

Rode to o

Orienteering race (Turkey Traverse) 1:25:00 [3] * 12.0 km (7:05 / km)
(sick)

Felt pretty crap. No energy to run...just plodded round. Only advantage of park-o over bush is the availability of toilets on the course...can I put in for a time deduction? Got confused about out of bounds green and tree thicket green at one stage.
Still, was good fun.

Riding warm up/down 17:00 [2] 5.5 km (3:05 / km)
(sick)

Rode home from o

Riding 46:00 [2] 13.8 km (3:20 / km)
slept:8.0 (sick)

Really easy ride round Princes and Royal Parks, wasn't feeling that energetic.

Thursday May 18, 2006 #

Note
slept:7.0 (sick)

Got a bit of a runny nose, but wasn't going to train anyway.

How many items of cutlery do you have to wash before it counts as training? Dishwasher at college broken. I don't think my hands will ever unwrinkle.

Wednesday May 17, 2006 #

Riding 1:07:00 [3] 20.2 km (3:19 / km)

Rode to Fairfield Pipe Bridge, feeling a bit flat. Then went for short run, back on the bike and rode home. 40 mins to bridge, 27 home

Running 18:00 [3]

Just went for a jog on bush tracks, nice to get away from Prinny. Settled in to the run a bit and felt really good on a bit of an uphill surge. Haven't run much lately. Shins were feeling pretty good.

Tuesday May 16, 2006 #

Riding 1:02:00 [3] 20.0 km (3:06 / km)

Had a sore throat and headache beforehand, but felt a bit better on the bike. Tried riding at higher cadence than usual. Calves were feeling pretty tight (have been since run on Saturday).
Went along Merri Crk to Bell St: really boring and it smells.
