Running 13:59 [4] +300m
Eureka Climb 2015. 88 floors, 1642 steps (allegedly; I didn't count)
Nice atmosphere at the start with CFA, Coast Guards, MFB (I assume, although I didn't see any), interstate and NZ firies, Police in full riot gear and us who continually got referred to as Parks Vic despite only having 1 PV rep in 11.
The configuration of the stairs (no landing half way on each floor) was easier than work, and the first 20 laps flew by with me leading the DELWP/PV crew. I think I made it to half way in front, before 2 of our guys passed me (they finished just under 30s in front) as I was fading.
It's tough doing it in boots - couldn't move my legs quick enough to run, so did the whole thing walking 2 stairs at a time (except a few floors where I did single stairs for a break). And boots/greens/helmet is nothing compared to the full breathing apparatus etc. that some were doing it in!
Everyone on the crew did better than they expected and were already talking about next year by lunch time.
