Orienteering 28:00 [3]

Prerunning junior girls for Schools Relays. First time I've been to schools champs since school I think.

Happy to just be doing junior girls - the perfect distance. I think I got beaten by a few of them, but they probably hadn't finished numbering maps, got changed and had some breakfast in the last 5mins. Legs felt like rubbish, but it was sooooo lovely out. Really nice to be running early. Perfect day!

Running (TBA practice) 41:25 [1] 4.83 km (8:34 / km)

No weight.

Orienteering race 50:28 [4] 4.4 km (11:28 / km)

Aus Middle Champs, Petticoat Gully.

Slightly closer to the winner today, but with a worse placing.

Took a lot of long-way-round routes today to avoid erosion gullies and/or green. Again, need to practise compass (and possibly just practise orienteering, I don't think I've done much apart from in Europe). Had problems in the control circle on a few (4, 6, 7, 11, 13) and crossed the wrong stile at the end. Legs felt so much better than yesterday! Breathing was a bit of a struggle though - I'm blaming hayfever (lack of training wouldn't help either).

Orienteering race 49:46 [4] 5.74 km (8:40 / km) +96m 8:00 / km

Vic Middle Distance Champs, Creswick Diggings.

Can't complain about 10th place off my training load for the last couple of months.

Mucked up the first control by trying to go through the green (I think I need to work on my compass again). Wide route north to 3 avoiding the green. Malin came into 7 as I was leaving, and saw her on and off for the rest of the race. No major mistakes today, but wasn't orienteering smoothly or cleanly in the technical terrain. And my legs felt absolutely rubbish - really stiff and sore, and breathing wasn't that flash either. Wasn't really into the map - at times things seemed to be taking a long time to come up, other times they popped up sooner than expected.

Beautiful afternoon to be out in the bush!

Running 35:00 [3]

Secret CB training at Studley. A jog on the single track while talking through some legs on a Creswick map.

Good to get out a) in the forest, b) with a map, and c) with CB1.

Running 23:00 [3]

Jog to find Coburg's newest park.

Running 20:00 [3]

Nice evening for a plod around the creek. Very slow.

Riding 8:00 [2]

Didn't think I'd survive the run to the creek.

Core strength/stretching 15:00 [1]

Still about all I can cope with. Struggling just with riding to and from work.

Running 20:30 [3]

Jog to the library, around and home. I was determined I wouldn't enjoy it and didn't. Legs were wrecked. Struggling with a head full of snot for the last few days and am sick of it.

Outtrained by all CBs :(

Running 12:36 [4]

6 x 12 flights + 4 = 76

But this time in boots. They are sooooo heavy. Only fell over once. Don't tell the OH&S people.

Running 11:42 [2]

And a lap of the park afterwards for a warm down. Hard work, but at least I was only wearing runners!

Orienteering 1:18:50 [3] 9.2 km (8:34 / km)

Bendigo Night Champs at Sedgwick.

A mediocre run, where bearings were approximate despite my best efforts. Saw a few people in the first 2 loops (and a kangaroo, sorry for freaking you out) but no one at the end. Well off the pace set by the boys.

Queen of the Night by default - given there were no other women running the night races. Bring on some competition next year!

Thanks to Toph and co for organising, and Andrew for the prizes.

Running 23:00 [3]

Little jog up to Murray Rd and back through the gaol. Legs felt stuffed walking round the park at lunchtime, but were feeling better tonight somehow.

Running 20:20 [3] 3.38 km (6:01 / km)

Time calculated as I forgot to start my watch until half way round.

Just testing the legs in the rain. They are still pretty tired, and even finding the ride to and from work a bit tough.
