Had a case of back brake failure. Exciting times.

Legs were pretty wrecked in the warm down

Invented some intervals: 10s easy 10s hard, 15s, 15 recovery, 20s etc. etc. up to 60s easy, 60s hard. Almost had a brain explosion trying to do the maths.

Running long 1:10:00 [3] 12.1 km (5:47 / km)

:-) Best run ever!! Can't remember the last time I ran for so long without dying. Went along the Merri Crk to Rushall, through Edinburgh Gardens, down Napier St to Vic Parade, past the museum and back up the middle of Canning St. Even added a little bit to the end over to Lygon St. Started raining in the last 5 mins. Set the alarm for 7 this morning for an early run and made it out the door just before 3.30pm. Ripper study break. Yay.

Not happy Jan. I either got a puncture or the law-knobs let down my tyre. But I did buy a nice pump. Also learnt the lesson to never clean out your bag after orienteering or you may remove a spanner that will be later required.

Pretty slow.

Baby Mona fartlek. Still pretty slow. Round and round barf park. Think I'll do some even shorter but faster intervals next week.

Smashed out 20 mins after getting home from uni late. Was feeling pretty good :-) Went along Blyth to Sydney Rd and back along Victoria St. Massively negatively splat (past tense of split). Went around the block again at the end to make up time.

Note

Bring on the next MTB race...I just got 6 back issues of Australian Mountain Bike BUT something in my bike is making a disgusting grinding noise.

Middle distance race. Did a few stupid things to number 7 and 12, looking at the map now I can understand why I didn't see anyone else going back through the triangle to 12. Realise it has been a really long time since I was actually riding MTB anywhere near a hill.

Heaps easier than the morning, mostly because I had a better idea of where I was going. Found it hard to read the map when riding. Good fun though. Got a bit of shit because of the lack of suspension on my bike...it just wasn't required when I got the bike in grade 5 :-)

Practised reading the map again. Legs wouldn't have gone any faster anyway though. Really need to start earlier; hard to tell if my difficulty reading the map is because I'm crap at it or just because it's getting dark.
My 1 hr of uni for the day turned into 9.30-4.30, but at least I got to play with liquid nitrogen

Went and pumped up my tyres instead of training. My bike really needs a bit of TLC before MTBO on Sunday, but I don't actually know/have tool to tighten my crank (should be able to realign the handlebars so they point the same way as the wheel though).

I have to make a mapboard. I hope the MTBO champs aren't too embarrassing.

VERY slow jog trying to practise reading a map on the run. Didn't do very well at it...really need to do this regularly. Right leg was really sore too. Calves tight also. Stomach muscles tight as. I blame sitting in the front row of the comedy festival almost under the stage.

Took a can of HTFU and went and did intervals in the rain. At least it washed the grit out of my eyes from the ride home. Did 6x50s, mostly up hill with a bit of down hill at the end of each. On 2min cycle. So 1'10 recovery.
