Running 31:18 [3] 5.5 km (5:41 / km)

Went up Diamond Hill, and back along the Bushland Trail next to the res; pushed it on the hills. Had to ease off on occasions, but generally felt ok. Legs were a bit sore in various places. Nice morning for running. Stopped about 100m early to poke an echidna. Plan for summer is to get some longer runs happening...

Orienteering race (Maze-o) 5:00 [3] *****
spiked:0/8c

Good fun...helped once I realised I had my map upside down.

Saturday Nov 25, 2006 #

Riding 30:00 [3] 10.0 km (3:00 / km)

Rode to a friend's place in Kangaroo Flat.

Wednesday Nov 22, 2006 #

Riding warm up/down 43:00 [2] 14.0 km (3:04 / km)

Rode to and from intervals.

Running warm up/down (recoveries) 15:00 [2] 1.8 km (8:20 / km)

Recoveries between intervals and a little bit before and after. Afterwards went up the hill again slowly. Legs felt absolutely dead when I first started after getting off the bike.

Running hills 4:00 [4] 1.0 km (4:00 / km)

Have been getting sore from the intervals at the track, so tried to make myself hurt another way today. It worked. Went for 1min up a hill in Royal Park from the tennis courts. Had planned to do 5 (and 1 min 20s each), but felt bad in the 1st, worse in the 2nd, relatively good in the 3rd and bad in the 4th. (measured distance with bike speedo, should be about 250m each hill)
No training until at least Saturday methinks, to see if I can feel a bit less dead when running :-)

Note

Eugh, 'too hot to live' as I heard someone say. Definitely too hot to train. A hayfeversome day. And now it's just got smokey...

Gym (Step) 55:00 [2]

Everything felt pretty tired tonight. Also left foot and knee were a little sore.

Sunday Nov 19, 2006 #

Riding 59:07 [3] 19.55 km (3:01 / km)

Legs are still pretty stiff. Rode fairly hard most of the way, couldn't go for any longer though because I wanted tea. Saw Ilks out running on the way back :-)

Saturday Nov 18, 2006 #

Riding 25:00 [2] 8.0 km (3:08 / km)

I couldn't stand the heat so I got out of the kitchen. 26 degrees is too hot for me :-( Legs were still dead, and it hurts to walk wegen very sore glutes. I think I should have done the girls course yesterday!

Orienteering race (Primary Schools Champs!) 17:25 [3] ** 2.7 km (6:27 / km) +50m 5:54 / km
spiked:16/17c

Couldn't match it with the big boys (Rob, Toph and Scammell), but just outdid the young 'ens! Overshot #3 a bit. Quite embarrassing on a course for the under 12's, but there you go!
6th time at the Primary Schools champs, but the first in a while!!
Legs were pretty dead and they didn't want to go fast.

Note

Spent a while wandering round helping lost kids, 15 mins collecting controls and about 1/2 an hour walking to the event. Quite happyI didn't get mugged on the train/walking to the event or overshoot the platform into an intersection, it wasn't nearly as scary as expected! My impression of St Albans/Keilor Downs/Kealba has skyrocketed.

Note

Hmmm...the temperature here reads 4 degrees, feels like -1...the Bureau says 11 degrees, feels like 7. Who to trust?

Gym (Body Step) 55:00 [3]

Just didn't have any energy tonight and felt really tired, possibly because I am actually tired :-) Calves were also tight even before I started. Very sad when I thought I'd missed the first half of Inspector Rex, happier when I realised I still had another 23.5 hours to go. Is it really only Wednesday?

Tuesday Nov 14, 2006 #

Running warm up/down 15:30 [2]

Warmed up halfway around the Crescent and back b/w Hilda's and Ormond; 9 mins. Warmed down around the oval; 6.30 mins. Legs were really dead by the start of the warm down.

Running intervals 13:35 [4] 3.0 km (4:32 / km)

((200 float, 300 hard)x3)x2

Wasn't expecting anything brilliant as Sunday was a pretty big day of training by my standards (yes it takes me a while to get over these things). I managed to continue the trend of my intervals getting slower for the past 3 times.
6.44 first set, 6.51 second set.
Finished the last one pretty hard in an effort not to disgrace myself :-) Shins were a little bit sore, not as bad as they have been, and they were fine on Sunday, so maybe I've got them under control. I'll have to keep an eye on them.

Sunday Nov 12, 2006 #

Riding 54:00 [3] 16.5 km (3:16 / km)

I was a bit worried the 'possible thunderstorm' was going to become a reality, but luckily it didn't :-) Rode for about 28 mins to the Pipe Bridge, then 26 home. Legs were pretty buggered when I first got back on the bike after the run.

Running 25:20 [3]

Woohoo :-) This was the nicest running training I've done for ages, and I was feeling pretty good too. Ran on and around the tracks from the Pipe Bridge, to the freeway, up to the Blvd, back down to the river and around a bit. Did 2 hill surges at the end which was actually quite nice :-)

Saturday Nov 11, 2006 #

Riding 1:05:00 [2] 17.0 km (3:49 / km)

Went for a ride with a friend. I think we're still friends even though I chose a manky route with lots of concrete, green slimy creek, bugs and bogans on bmx's. Stopped at a playground at half way and discovered that it's bloody hard work on the monkey bars. I don't remember it being that difficult at primary school!! Saw someone who looked suspiciously like Ian Dodd on the way back...

Friday Nov 10, 2006 #

Riding 40:00 [2] 10.5 km (3:49 / km)

I was going to go for a run but had to pick up a molecular model kit from Dave's. Glad not to be running as my legs were pretty heavy and I wasn't feeling that great. Beautiful day though, back to some nice weather.

Thursday Nov 9, 2006 #

Note

Rode down to Aldi and the Queen Vic market...struggled to make it back up the hill. Only the thought of Pfeffernuesse, Choceur chocolate, Toffifee, Zimtsterne, mango, strawberries, apples, peaches and pineapple kept me going. Yum! Food shopping is so much fun!

Gym warm up/down (Spinning) 20:00 [2]

It's looking like a very yellow week this week.

Gym intervals (Spinning) 38:00 [4]

I would log this at 5 except I never (very rarely anyway) log anything at 5 because I never feel like it's justified. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it out of this class or have a coronary. Did lots of hill climbs where I had really high resistance, and some high cadence sprints. Felt like my legs were going to drop off, but they didn't, which is always a plus :-)

Monday Nov 6, 2006 #

Gym (Body Step) 55:00 [3]

10 visits of a 10 visit gym pass - 10 visits = 4 visits left :-)

Went for a step class, wasn't as unco as usual (still had trouble coordinating arms with legs though!), but legs got a bit tired after about 1/2 an hour. Fun times :-)

Sunday Nov 5, 2006 #

Riding 1:28:00 [3] 28.2 km (3:07 / km)

Rode with Dave. Did a lap of Yarra Blvd and passed some people on road bikes :-) But after that I was really tired and struggled a bit for the last 35 mins.

Friday Nov 3, 2006 #

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

9 min warm up round the Crescent. My shins started to get a wee bit sore after about 5 mins. Also about 5 mins stretching before intervals.

After intervals about 5 mins walking and stretching, then 6 min warm down around the footy oval, I was really struggling to keep my legs going. Walked back to Mary's.

Running intervals 13:29 [4] 3.0 km (4:30 / km)

(200 easy, 300 hard)x3 then another set.

6.43 first set, 6.46 second.

Back to lane 1 this week! Felt ok during the 1st set, but ended up nowhere near as quick as last week. Had about 5 min break between sets stretching as my legs were a bit sore. 2nd set was much harder and felt a lot slower. Really tried to push the last 100m and a sprinter was looking at me funnily!

Wednesday Nov 1, 2006 #

Riding 34:00 [2] 10.8 km (3:09 / km)

Went for a spin-spin before din-dins. Very smoggy outside :-(
