Pyramid session.

30s on, 30s off, 1 min on, 1 min off, 2 min on, 1 min off, 1 min on, 1 min off, 30s on, 30s off.

And then again, but starting with the offs.

Felt really tired beforehand and in the warm up. Didn't feel so bad by the end of the second interval, although didn't quite get as far as the first interval. Bit of effort to get out there, but probably good that I did.

Morning run, drop off some library books, across to the creek, upstream to Murray Rd, back through Pentridge. Could have done laps of Sydney Rd and stayed dry under the verandahs if I were so inclined.

Made the most of the weekend at Baw Baw. Morning long run with Ilka. Went up to the summit first, then did a few loopy bits back down the hill. Decided we needed to spend more time out in the lovely forest, so went back up and did the Village Trail loop. We were wishing we went out to St Gwinear after seeing it wasn't as far as expected. Beautiful spot for running.

Orienteering (skipping down ski slopes) 37:36 [3] 3.4 km (11:04 / km)

Fantastic spot for a race. Lots of running/skipping across the ski slopes and picking from slope to slope. Stopped to have a look at a blue flag thinking it might be hawkweed, but couldn't see anything. Navigated pretty cleanly, but got a bit vagued out on the longer downhill legs (15 and 17) and picked myself up with a bit of luck. Was running pretty well. Got a little bushed by the buildingrock at 20. Had soooo much fun out there :) :)

Had my first class win for about 5 years. Thought I had the course win, but Steve Doyle came through with a fast time late. Still, claimed a few M55 scalps. Apparently I'm an alpine orienteering specialist.

Last week when I arrived someone thrust a carbon paddle into my arms. This week I acquired a block of wood. Thus the session was a lot more painful, to the extent that I had to take a break towards the end.

3 sets of intervals:

100m easy run, 200m surge x 6
50m slow jog, 150m surge x 8
100m slow jog, 100m surge x 8

I think the longer intervals are more my style. I was faster than the 2 new guys in them, but then they were quicker in the shorter intervals. Also, I don't seem to do the recoveries quite as slowly as others. Maybe those 2 facts are connected.

Hagaby. Wasn't feeling that flash before the start but felt a bit better as I went on. Just an average kind of run: not very quick and a bit scrappy at times. Long way off the pace.

Sprint. Felt like I was running ok at the start, but tired a bit towards the end. Navigation a bit messy at times.

2 sets of
100m, 200m, 300m, 300m, 200m, 100m with 100m recovery after each effort. Went fairly hard. Consistent times for both sets (6 secs faster 2nd time around).

Morning run on Phillip Is. Around the Ramada which definitely didn't have 7km of walking tracks, then along the main road to the foreshore at Cowes and back. Feeling ok on the way out, a bit tired by the way back.

Feeling very uninspired tonight, almost didn't go to training. Not very quick.

The police came and had a very long chat with some of the sprint coaches and a sprinter.

Chicken and Champagne at Wildflower Drive. Picked up all the controls, taking them in the opposite order to everyone else. Very few spiderwebs, especially at face height.

After wussing out on training in the rain last night, I made myself get up at 6am. Just like old times. No other runners out, just a few walkers. Lap of the lake with a few extra bits. Rained a bit while I was out.
