Excellent Sunday long run on a route I've been wanting to do for a while. Bit worried about my niggle but it never got painful. Basically no road and just nice trails the whole way. Good chat and finished with a Roast dinner and cake stop in Winchester after. Started fast on the steps rep and had to continue it!

Very easy going. Left calf felt tight which was slightly worrying. 34 now down, 16 to go for the free t-shirt!

Busketts Lawn Level D Blue
Left Achilles was worrying me. Similar plan to last week of staying in control and running within myself. A couple of wobbly bits, need to really nail the exit direction and compass early on in a leg (lead to two errors, one of ~2mins). Otherwise felt strong running in the terrain and was pretty accurate with my navigation. Happy with my Orienteering after very little practice in 2017! Goal for the Classic will be to pace myself and stay in control (simplifying navigation).

Civil Service X-Country Champs Parliament Hill - 4th!
2nd men's team as well :)

One of the main goals for the season, had improved from 50s in 2014 to 12th in 2016. Hope was to improve again get, top 10 and as high up as I could. September Mountain Month has been a great break from proper structured training but was unsure if I'd still have the race pace.

Set off steady ish, was down in 10th but gradually worked through a few on the first half lap. Finished the first lap in 3rd but a guy came past and I couldn't quite hang on. Was struggling a bit on the 2nd lap. Ate my pitta too late (2.5 hours before), snotty and breathing quite heavily. Tried to keep the two guys in front in touch and not get overtaken. Pushed on for the last lap, trying to do as much as I could. Felt I was gaining on them after the last steep hill but couldn't quite do it. Fortunately didn't get overtaken despite fearing someone was on my shoulder. Gave it my all! Driving for the line with a smile. Happy with that for a race!
