Swimming at the Quays
Definitely not a natural! Fairly good work out though. Arms and legs achey afterwards! Not quite got the breathing right, may need to try and breath less and be less panicky? Basically could only do 1 length at a time but was getting frustrated by the others in the lane.

Southampton parkrun with Sue, 9 to go to 50!
A third test of the injury, definitely thinking it is a quad tightness/injury that's affecting my right knee and side. Think it needs more rest and recovery. Not sure if doing strength work will actually help it.

Beginners loop + fields
First short test of the new. Didn't know whether road or off-road would feel better so did a mix of both. Knee did hurt most of the time, but not really badly. It didn't seem to deteriorate that much. It hurt a bit Weds morning but cycling that morning also aggravated it. Current plan is to do a few easy jobs per week in the hope that continuing the stretching and strength work helps. If it doesn't improve in a couple of weeks, I'll seek further advice.

Lordswood trail
Day off so able to get my first trail run in of 2018. Still been concerned about my knee, but it didn't feel painful at parkrun so thought I'd attempt a run. Felt okay for the first half but by the sports centre it was definitely hurting. Walked for a bit and pace dropped. A day later the pain is more, hurts on the left and top of the knee cap. My theory while running is that it was the shoes (Ravennas) as back in the summer I was having issues with both pairs of road shoes. I only replaced one set, will let the knee recover a bit before attempting the mizuno shoes. The forest was very muddy and wet, good fun though. Trying to stay positive and not get too annoyed or down at having a niggle. May contact the physio...

Southampton parkrun - 40th parkrun
For Viv's 100th and New Year's Day. Had hoped to do a double but Eastleigh was cancelled. My knee had 4 days of rest and felt increasingly better. Couldn't feel it during the run and could feel it a little bit the next day. Will keep being sensible and see how it goes! Very chilled pace, would've liked to have run wth more more of my friends but did say I'd run with Viv/didn't see them! Had a good chat with a Totton runner called Mike who was also a big xcountry fan! Very cold and miserable, especially cycling (glad I had some layers). Followed by post parkrun brunch :)
