Boardwalks with Nicole and Rachael
Introducing the girls to the boardwalks route. One of my favourite work runs. Tides haven't been right the last few times I've considered it. Nice and flat pre the weekends ascent.

Didn't have many goals for this, still taking it easy/less worries for a month. Session was meant to be 16, far more than we have ever done. Most we did last season was 12 fours. Got into a good pairing with Matt Keogh, I was leading and he was tucking in. Legs still finding it hard to run fast after all the mountains and metres ascent! Legs absolutely shattered after, not felt that tired in a while.

Good to have a catch up and run with someone who loves the offroad! Just going where ever the run took us. Legs a bit tired on the hills but otherwise good! Will try to do a weekly longer forest run in preparation for the xcountry season.

Cortina d'Ampezzo
Spent 6 hours plus hiking and on my first Via ferratta. Thought I'd get out for an easy run, mainly on roads but fortunately stunning scenery. Few little hesitations with the maps/trails not matching. Randomly bumped into Phil Vokes which was a surprise! Stopped for a chat then continued on, was enjoying it so headed further out and then back along the cycling path. Shins were a bit tight but the pace was good as it was all very gradually downhill! Great run

Wansfell, Ambleside to Troutbeck
Didn't know whether to go out but the weather cleared up. Nice run out through the town and along a gradual path before the steps! Tried to run as much as possible but got beaten by the end. Conditions on the topped deteriorated a bit, proper fell running with some proper mud! Almost a navigational blunder off the top! Always check the map... Fairly quick descent down the track then the heavy rain and thunder hit. Tried to get off fast! Need to wear contact lenses when fell running...

Styhead Pass attempt
Pretty rainy so headed out in coat. Track basically a river in a number of places, was going to make it more of a loop but the river was too high and flowing very fast. Bit of a slog up and turned back early due to the weather. Fun descent down the main track.

Didn't really know what to do, didn't fancy the session and wanted to have an easy week/month. Sometimes harder when it's not routine! Legs felt pretty rubbish, tired and achey in places. Picked up a bit near the end.

Drizzly rain the whole time. Just making the loop up as I went, didn't know whether I wanted to get out or how much to do. Pretty nice loop! Shame there was a small section on roads. A few hills thrown in for September mountain month practice.

Always fun, always quality. Had James Smith to work off for the reps and the tempo, made me push hard. Had intended for end of season ease but couldn't turn down the sand dunes.

Trail run commute - Lordshill greenways, Tanners brook then up to Rownhams
Legs felt a bit heavy to start with! Bag wasn't as light as it could've been. Had to slow down for some cows on the hill! They were a bit jumpy. Great time of day to be running and a really nice route. Love the woods. Potential to make it longer or a little shorter

OS Runners Sports Day Mile race - 2nd
Almost closed down by Dean. Lead out for the first 3 laps, tested the pace a couple of times to see if I could drop James. He went past with 300m to go and decided I should've gone with him late. Pretty consistent pace. Went on to win the 200m skipping race which was surprisingly tough! Dropped my egg in the egg and spoon...
