Running 29:49 [2] 5.73 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave 12

Lunchtime run with Nicole
Planned had been to do 6km but thought 30 mins would do. Once again, no pain but was aware of things the whole time. Tried to keep the lace steady but felt like that was quite difficult running with someone.

Loop around Shirley
Couldn't be bothered all day and was feeling really tired. First day back at work and I could feel my quad sat down day. Freezing cold cycle home and dressed so I could run straight away. Things felt okay running, legs a tad heavy and achey but the injury wasn't painful. Thought I'd do 15 mins, then kept going a bit more.

Running 25:42 [2] 5.0 km (5:08 / km)

Southampton parkrun - 42nd parkrun
A little faster than intended, right pace going up but a bit faster going down (partly drawn by the crowd). Wouldn't say the quad or knee hurt that much. One of my current running goals is to get my 50th milestone shirt. Could happen on OSR club champs day.

Morning run with Nicole around the headland
Lovely morning run, first time out as a pair for a while. Very windy but good fun. Still disciplined on the pace, but have increased the distance a bit. Quad ached a little but otherwise pretty good. Will do parkrun on Saturday at a steady pace.

Marsaskala trails: out to the headland and back
A bit further and a bit faster. Legs were feeling quite heavy, and felt like I couldn't run much slower or faster! Could feel my quad but it didn't really hurt. On hindsight, pace a bit quicker than some of my other runs!

Running 21:25 [2] 3.59 km (5:58 / km)

Marsaskala loop with the Gang
A bit slower than the other test jogs due to running as a group. But of a shame to not be able to do more, sounded like there are some great places to explore. Lovely sunny morning running with friends

Day 3 of rehab
Rooftop yoga and strength work in the sun! So good, followed by a freezing dip in the pool

Day 2 of rehab + stretching

Tuesday Feb 13, 2018 #

5 PM

Running 20:24 [3] 4.04 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave 12

Beginners loop with Tim
Disciplined and to plan, will keep trying to knock out these jogs at an easy pace and not get carried away. Good to run with a friend again and have a distraction. I could feel things but I would say it was pain free. Pretty happy with that!

Yoga/Stretching/S&C warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Dynamic stretching

Running 18:55 [2] 3.55 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave 12

Tester 20 min jog to and multiple laps of St James Park
After 1km I could feel my right quad and had a small pain in my knee. It didn't really get much worse but I was definitely aware of it, pain 1-2 out of 10. Trying to take it easy and not think about the injury too much.

Had two diagnosis appointments on Thurs, first with GP about feeling fatigued and worrying about the return of the Lyme's. Having some blood tests next week and she thought it could also be stressed related (think she could be right). Second was with Kyle, a sports therapist recommended by a few decent runners. Quite a thorough assessment and check, quite reassured that I was strong in a few areas like glutes that most runners are weak on. Identified that my right quad is weak and causing issues in the knee, Patellofemoral/Runners knee. He then did some acupuncture and soft tissue massage on the area. Been given a program of stretching and strength work, hopefully should only be a number of weeks and can run 3*20 mins per week if the pain doesn't go above a 3/10.
