Bog slog! This felt like one of the most challenging bog slogs that I’ve done: pretty long, some seriously steep slopes, and more tricky control locations than I recall seeing in past years races there. My mental limit for orienteering caps out at about 2 hours, and I really struggle to stay focused in on a race for much longer than that. I majorly screwed up control 7, which also put me behind all of the people I had been seeing periodically up until then, and I wasn’t going to make up that ground in the second half of the race
Crystal again, with some of the cousin crew. I have never experienced toe bang this bad, and I already know that both of my big toe nails will fall off in 3 months or so. Snow was good! Legs are tired from skiing two days ago. 5 days

Kongsberger with my dad. He was on classic skis, so partway through we swapped and I had my first “real” day of learning classic skiing. I think I like skating better.
First full day up at crystal this season, with the cousin gang. I sent it off a couple rocks, and double ejected and faceplanted into a penguin belly slide upon landing after jumping the cliff in northway bowl. It wasn’t exactly the sort of powder face shot that I was looking for, but there is a pretty amusing series of photos from that attempt.
