Sourdough Canyon. I’m sore from yesterday, legs from hiking/running, shoulders from climbing. R knee complained a little bit in the first half but didn’t stay throughout. This would be a good place for a long run, since it’s not too steep and the grade changes at least a little bit as you go up

Elephant Mountain, up at Hyalite with a couple of people from the trail junkies. One person had just done a 200 mile trail race a few weeks before, one has done several 50k trail races, and one had never run further than 1-2 miles before. We ran/hiked this, but mostly just ran the complete flats and downhills. Even slight uphills were walking. So this was kinda brutal on my knees coming down. Good day for a hike though, and there were lots of people out hiking. Completely forgot to bring my watch, so this is an estimate

Climbing 30:00 [1]

Practice Rock with Sean the boi. Did 5.6 Crack, 5.7 Wide Crack, and one more (5.8? 5.9?). Took several attempts to get past the crux of the last one, and had to go down to take a break but made it up the first attempt the second time roping up, which felt really good!

Got out to explore after class, and went to Chestnut Mountain, which has Frog Rock on its northwest ridge coming down. The uphill was kind of brutal. I stopped several times for berry breaks (thimble berries AND mountain huckleberries!), which I’d like to believe is the main reason why a trail runner passed me on the way up. Ouch. Took about 1:30 to get up, and 40min to come down. Took one spill which knocked my rear wheel slightly out of the bracket. I need to make sure that’s on very tightly now.
Overall, a decent ride, but the uphill half was a little much. I’d do this again, but not regularly.

Quick speedier run to try get back before dark. Peet’s hill at sunset is lovely, and crowded with everyone else who shares that thought

Challenging still to run here. Feels like I’m working wayyyy harder than I should be.
