Alpine Skiing 2:00:00 [1]

Pow day! Found good pockets on right angle, 5 tree (far far out brand-x), and we wrapped up the day ducking under to employee housing to get a long stretch of untouched snow

Cabin Creek! Woo!

Crystal. Really long lift lines. The groomers at the start of the day were great, and we hiked up the King to Silver Basin right before lunch, which was the best snow of the day. After lunch, everything off the groomers started to harden up pretty quickly.

Bog slog! I definitely hesitated a lot, and I had a big mistake to 12, where I dropped down to the big cliffs instead of staying higher to traverse around the hillside, but everything else was O.K. This was probably the shortest bog slog in history (?), but it was all good forest running (for Lord Hill), and a great first event for COC since the start of COVID.

Alpine Skiing 2:00:00 [1]

Crystal. It was very hard in the morning, and anything off the groomers was a hard no-go. But, it started snowing in the afternoon, and the last few runs of the day were excellent over in the valley and upper E.

Papa Bear with Sean. Felt good to move my legs in a different way than skiing today!

Crystal day 2. Calves were screaming the whole time, which is weird since skiing has never bothered my calves before. Re-attempted the cliff I failed yesterday, but took an even harder spill at the landing, which gave me a pretty good headache and an hour or so of nausea.

Sunset hills. BSF invested in snowmaking (!!) so despite Bozeman’s utter lack of snow this winter, there’s an approximately 1.2k loop of decent skiing in town. Jealous of all the Mid-Atlantic and New Englanders right about now.
Groin did not hurt at all during this which was a very pleasant surprise! Good to get out on skate skis again.

Running 2:51:17 [2] 13.03 mi (13:09 / mi) +545m 11:38 / mi
(injured) shoes: Brooks Cascadia 14 - black/red

With Siri and AJ. 21k for the birthday girl!
The snow on the last little bit before we turned around was a little bit harder work to get through, as only one or two fat bikers had been through before us.
Only flagging this as injured because my L side groin is still bothering me a fair amount, and it’s been a while now. Getting over the fallen trees was unpleasant.

New World Gulch with Siri and AJ. We turned around just before we would have looped around on the trail... bummer. Not as good of a trail for running as Cottonwood. A little bit too steep in a few too many sections.

Treadmill baby run while talking on the phone with Jake! L side groin felt a little funky when I stopped, but not too painful. Moving again tomorrow should be fine for it.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Note

Lots of speed walking between places at work. L side groin was feeling it by midway through the day
