Got in yesterday’s workout! On the stationary bike. 5x 3min hard, 1min rest between, and immediately into 5x 30-30s standing up. This was HARD. I struggled with keeping the rpms up on the 4th and 5th 3min interval, and the 30-30s were killer. I’m actually really shocked my heart rate wasn’t higher on this. Cool down was super slow and easy.

When I finally had the time today, I didn’t have the heart. Tomorrow, I’ll have the heart, and I might have the time.

New run around the hospital! And my lab partner showed up, which was cool, and we were the same pace, which was even cooler.

Nordic Skiing intervals 55:53 [4] 7.93 mi (7:03 / mi)
ahr:161 max:182 (sick)

5x 1k intervals between classes today. The first one was rough (just look at the split), but once I had warmed up a bit more and gotten into my groove, these went really well. Much slower than the last time I did these, but I think I was working just as hard if not harder, so that must be either the snow or my lacking-wax skis. I blew out a lot of snot. Skiing is good for that. I was the first one out onto the groomed loop just outside my building, and it was cool to be the only one making tracks until just before my last interval, when another woman started skiing. I feel a lot smoother with my skating form, so it seems like actually skiing makes you better! Who would have thought. I really like skiing :)
Splits: 3:43, 3:38, 3:34, 3:28, 3:28
(Splits have to be taken with the tip of my nose since I’m wearing gloves, so they’re definitely only approximate)

Got out to Crosscut and brought Siri along too! My skis are essentially devoid of any wax at this point, so I was working hard. We didn’t do an official glide test, but Siri’s skis were so much speedier than mine. The snow was super soft and it was windy today, so a lot of powder was getting blown over the corduroy. But it was a lot of fun to get out and do a long quality ski!

Nordic Skiing (Classic) 1:01:48 [1] 2.56 mi (24:08 / mi) +35m 23:09 / mi
ahr:115 max:140 slept:8.5

This was my first time ever on classic skis and it felt weird and was very challenging. I was basically just hiking around on skis, and I know I definitely didn’t have the proper technique down. I’d be happy to try again with someone who could give me pointers, but for now I think I’m going to stick with skate skis.

I had been feeling better the past couple of days, but I think a couple nights of not-so great sleep took it out of me again. The hill on this was rough

I mostly felt gross and sick and weak during this although there were a few short periods of feeling okay. Also, my HR monitor (chest strap) rubbed my skin raw. It’s happened before, although infrequently, but I need to figure out how to position it correctly every time so I don’t have to worry about it.

With the club, which said the plan was “3 ish” miles. This was a tad bit more than they had planned, and it’s been a while since I’ve run this far, so I was definitely working to keep up.

Nordic Skiing intervals 41:18 [4] 6.87 mi (6:01 / mi)
ahr:161 max:184 slept:6.5

I tried out some intervals on the 1k loop right outside my building. I’ve never done any sort of intervals on skis before, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I only did 3x 1k but they got me working. Since I’m not a super experienced skier, I had to really emphasize form on my last one.

Not a lot of people out, so we got in a good number of fast groomers. I only used my watch on one run, but max speed on that run was 65mph. Ended the day with a hike out to the beach, and silver basin had some great snow.
