Rollerskiing 45:00 [3] 5.8 mi (7:46 / mi)

My dad and I did the Honey Creek loop with some extra at the end. I felt a lot better than last time I went roller skiing which was good. My dad suggested doing a 1.5 hour loop sometime soon.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Planks and crunches.

Thursday Jan 29, 2015 #

Strength 3:00 [3]

Pushup-type exercises and three variations of crunches.

Running 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)

Really slooooww two warm up laps.

Strength 20:00 [3]

First day of weight training, and after the little bit of core exercises and warm up laps, we went to the weight room and learned how to use everything. We had 20 minutes left, so I went around and just tried out a bunch of different things to figure out how it all works.

I thought I was super weak because benching the bar without any weights was more difficult than it should have been, but then I found out the bar was 45lbs just by itself! That discovery made me feel better :)

Strength 5:00 [3]

Planned on going for a quick run before school buuuuut I slept through my alarm. So I settled for core instead.

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

A new girl came to practice today. Hopefully she'll join the team since we need the numbers... Our game on Saturday got cancelled because we don't have enough people able to play.

Soccer 1:30:00 [3]

A really good soccer practice. We had a meeting before and we discussed with our coach what we wanted and what he wanted. Then at practice we played separate from the younger girls, worked on technical skills, and our coach was more positive overall.

Running intervals 2:00 [4]

4 full field sprints after practice with Cam.

Sunday Jan 25, 2015 #

Rollerskiing 45:00 [3]

Roller skied around the Honey Creek loop with my dad.

Saturday Jan 24, 2015 #

Soccer 1:00:00 [4]

Was late to the game because the SAT took up the WHOLE MORNING. We ended up winning 4-2 (yay our first win!) even with being low on numbers. I tweaked my ankle a little bit despite wearing my ankle brace but I don't think it's too bad -- I should be good in a day or two.

Running 58:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:17 / mi)
shoes: Asics: Gel-Equation 7

Ran Lake Kathleen and Skyfire with Carlyn. The guys did Jimi, but we didn't want to go with them since we ran that yesterday.

Thursday Jan 22, 2015 #

Running 56:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics: Gel-Equation 7

Ran Jimi with Carlyn, slower than we did Tuesday which definitely felt better.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Soccer 1:30:00 [3]

Only four girls showed up... yikes. We practiced with the younger girls like always, but this time it was more out of necessity than anything else.

Tuesday Jan 20, 2015 #

Running 55:00 [4] 7.1 mi (7:45 / mi)
shoes: Asics: Gel-Equation 7

Ran from Ron Regis with Carlyn. I was slowing her down, and I didn't feel too good while running, mainly from my back being sore from skiing yesterday. Also, this is the furthest I've run in a while.

Monday Jan 19, 2015 #

Alpine Skiing 6:30:00 [3]

Finally there was some much-needed snow! There were definitely still rocks but if it keeps snowing they should be gone soon. According to my phone, 32,900 ft of vertical and a max speed of 54mph.

Sunday Jan 18, 2015 #

Rollerskiing 1:00:00 [2]

Rollerskiing with Siri and my dad. With Siri there, we went pretty slowly, so at the end I decided to go hard (still with good form) for the last little bit. But I planted my pole between my skis. Not good. I had a nasty fall and scraped up both elbows, bruised my hip, scraped my knee, and tore my tights. I hit my knee the hardest, so it's pretty swollen. I'll be icing it once it stops bleeding.

Orienteering race 45:41 [5] 3.6 km (12:41 / km) +260m 9:19 / km
11c

The varsity course. I was really tired at the end but it was a fun course. All the kettles were interesting to see too!

Finished first for varsity girls and was 1:37 behind the top varsity guy... but there's still two more opportunities left to win both guys and girls!

Orienteering race 1:11:45 [3] 4.8 km (14:57 / km) +325m 11:10 / km
12c

Running long advanced while being tired from the varsity course meant that I went slowly. There were several of the same controls as on the varsity course.

Running 45:00 [3] 6.1 mi (7:23 / mi)
shoes: Asics: Gel-Equation 7

Ran DQ with Carlyn. We were going to run with Anna and have a more relaxed day but she fell behind. We thought she went the other way, so we took a detour to the other part of the loop, but we realized she wasn't there, so we took another detour back to the original way we were going to catch her over there. We didn't see her there either, so she probably did a shorter run.

Altogether, our adventures probably added an extra mile to the regular run, and we did just over two laps on the track at the very end to bring it up from 5.5 to 6.

Strength 11:00 [3]

I was maybe going to run today but did core instead. Tomorrow I'll try to get a run in!

Wednesday Jan 14, 2015 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Someone stomped on my foot pretty good and now my toe has a little bit of purple... Other than that, we had a good practice with all 8 of us who went.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Planking (center) before school. Really gets you up and ready to go!

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Soccer practice with the team. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Running 2:00 [3]

Two full-field sprints after practice, but they didn't feel super fast.

Sunday Jan 11, 2015 #

Strength 5:00 [3]

Plank, center.

Saturday Jan 10, 2015 #

Alpine Skiing 5:00:00 [3]

Skiing at Crystal with my dad and Siri. There was hardly any snow, probably the lowest I've ever seen it, and I hit a couple rocks. Oops. Conditions weren't so great either. It changed from extremely firm and hard-packed, to softening up for great snow for a couple hours, to "snowing" very wetly. In the middle part of the day with good conditions, it was fun and I'm glad we went!

Armchair Orienteering 30:00 [0]

Looked at a past Ridley Creek, PA map with my dad to a) make up for missing today's COC training at Shoreview and b) get a sneak peek at what Interscholastics will be like.

Running 45:00 [3] 5.5 mi (8:11 / mi)
shoes: Asics: Gel-Equation 7

Run with the distance team on candy Friday! :) Before getting kit kats, I ran DQ with Carlyn and Kelsey. Kelsey was in really good shape compared to Carlyn and me; I guess she and Brigitte have been training a lot on their own. The extra mileage came from 1 mile around the track afterward, which wasn't intended to be fast, but it's the track - you can't help but go faster! It ended up being somewhat of a gradual 1 mile build up.

Wednesday Jan 7, 2015 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Pretty normal soccer practice. Went a lot better than Monday's practice.

Running intervals 2:00 [4]

Only two post-practice full field sprints today - I drove home a teammate who didn't want to run or wait for long.

Tuesday Jan 6, 2015 #

Running 52:00 [3] 6.9 mi (7:32 / mi)
shoes: Asics: Gel-Equation 7

It has been a while since I last ran with the distance team, so it was good to run with them today. Carlyn and I ran together, and I think it was on the harder side for both of us. Getting back into good shape is difficult but so rewarding!

Note

I found out today that I made the Junior National Orienteering Team! It's very exciting, and I'm ready to put in the hard work that it will take. :)

Monday Jan 5, 2015 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Easy soccer practice. We were going to practice with just our team, but ended up practicing with the little girls, which meant a lot of standing around.

Running intervals 5:00 [4]

4 sprints across the length of the soccer field with about 30 seconds of rest in between.

Orienteering race 40:59 [4] 4.0 km (10:15 / km) +150m 8:38 / km

WIOL #5 at Shoreview Park. Last year at this park, I messed up the first control really badly. This year, I did well on the first control, which I thought would be indicative of a good race! I was wrong. I made lots of mistakes and I am not too pleased with how I raced. I'm pleasantly surprised that I still managed to win Varsity girls, but I was over five minutes behind the first Varsity guy.

Soccer 55:00 [4]

After orienteering, I jetted over to my soccer game but had missed most of the first half. We played poorly against Bellevue Ravens, a team we should have beaten, but they beat us 2-0. Unfortunately we won't have a second game against them this season.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Planking.

Friday Jan 2, 2015 #

Strength 5:00 [3]

Five minutes of planking while I waited for my sister to finish getting ready for our family run. 2:00 center, 0:45 right, 0:45 center, 0:45 left, 0:45 center with no rest between.

Running 45:00 [3]

Nice run with my sister and dad on the Marshall Hill trail loop. I thought a bit about orienteering-- what color the vegetation would be on a map, how I would cut through the mini switchbacks... I'm ready to start running again more. Hopefully I can make it to the distance teams' runs after school starting next week.

Strength 7:00 [3]

Another bit of core work today. Five minutes of plank again (this time with 1:00 intervals all throughout) and then crunches. Core work always feels really great for some reason!

Cycling 45:00 [2]

My first road ride with my mom and our neighbor! We went on May Valley and turned around at the start of the downhill. It was longer than I've gone before for a road ride, so I might be sore tomorrow... The weather was cold and clear, but I stayed pretty warm except for my toes.
