Alpine Skiing 5:00:00 [3]

I'm not quite sure how to and whether to place downhill skiing on my training log. I don't have a stopwatch that I can use to time just the time that I'm actually skiing, so I have to go with the whole time (excluding lunch of course), but that includes countless chair rides. 5 hours does not mean 5 hours of straight up skiing.

Regardless, it was a fun day up at Crystal with the Holtes. No new powder like there was on Sunday, but the snow was still good. There were some rocks exposed in certain places (Front Side, Powder Bull, Lower E) but they weren't too difficult to avoid. I've forgotten how much I love skiing!

Rollerskiing 30:00 [3]

Roller skiing with my dad again, but my sister went also. We went on the Green River trail, which was nice because it's so flat!

Rollerskiing 30:00 [3]

Went roller skiing with my dad around through Honey Creek. Getting used to the new roller skis was difficult, and I stumbled several times and fell once, but I'll get used to them soon.

Alpine Skiing 5:30:00 [3]

First time downhill skiing this year and it was so much fun! We went to Crystal and skied with our cousins through powder (which quickly turned to crud after it got skied out, but still good skiing). It took the morning to get used to it again, but by the afternoon it was fine.

Orienteering race 2:13:33 [4] 7.6 km (17:34 / km) +420m 13:46 / km
25c

The infamous Bog Slog. True to tradition, my feet were soggy and muddy afterwards!

I ran long advanced, which was much more difficult than the WIOL varsity courses because it was significantly more off trail. However, it was a perfect opportunity to practice my navigational skills. Of course I made mistakes and have things to improve upon, but overall I am pleased with how it went.

Nordic Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Went up to Cabin Creek for some nordic skiing with my dad and sister. There wasn't quite enough snow, so we had to walk short stretches a couple times. It was fun to get up in the mountains for the first time this year though!

Armchair Orienteering 30:00 [0]

I have been sick with a cold for the past few days, so I haven't been able to (well, willing to) get out and exercise. Instead, I did some armchair orienteering by looking at my dad's old maps of Lord Hill with him and my sister in preparation for Saturday's meet.

Running 40:00 [3] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

I organized a team run for the girls on my soccer team to stay in shape over our break, but only one other person showed up. :( Oh well, we had a nice easy run anyways.

Running 10:00 [4]

My sister has a set workout that she's supposed to do for her soccer team over winter break. I joined her today, and we did five 40-yard sprints and five 80-yard sprints.

Soccer 30:00 [3]

While Siri did her required 1,200 juggles, I juggled a soccer ball too for ball-handling skill practice. After she finished, we did long balls for 5 minutes or so.

Cycling 25:00 [3]

It is so nice to not have to worry about school for a little bit. With the schoolwork grind I hadn't been getting as much exercise as I would have liked to in the past couple of weeks, but now that I have a two-week break, I'm eager and ready to workout.

This was a nice bike ride with my dad. It was the first real ride I've been on with my new road bike - my mom's old racing bike (she used it at Masters Nationals!). Hopefully I'll have the chance to ride more in these upcoming weeks, and throughout the spring and summer when the weather gets nicer.

Orienteering 1:07:48 [3] 6.4 km (10:36 / km) +140m 9:33 / km
29c

I ran the long advanced course after the varsity course at UW for extra practice. Some of the controls were the same as on the varsity course, but many were new. I used this as an exercise to focus on flow through controls, something I certainly need to improve on.

Orienteering race 35:21 [4] 4.5 km (7:51 / km) +90m 7:08 / km
19c

Rainy WIOL meet at UW. The varsity course went pretty well. I was nervous about all the buildings, but I managed to avoid mixing them up, much to my relief. I won the girls' varsity by almost five minutes. Two varsity boys finished with faster times than me; now I have a goal to be the top varsity finisher (girls AND boys) for one meet this season.

Soccer 1:30:00 [4]

Second soccer game this year. Unfortunately we lost again, 1-3.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [1]

Club training run by Mike at Fort Steilacoom. We did pace counting, a triangle compass activity, and discussed orienteering. Overall a helpful experience!

Thursday Dec 11, 2014 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [3]

Just a normal soccer practice.

Sunday Dec 7, 2014 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [4]

First soccer game of the season! Unfortunately we lost 4-2 to the older team (U-18), but I assisted one of the goals with a thru-ball to Aurora.

Orienteering race 31:13 [4] 3.8 km (8:13 / km) +150m 6:52 / km
14c

Had a fun race at Fort Steilacoom, where I ran my first WIOL meet last year. I made several disappointing mistakes, but they're bound to happen at some point.

Orienteering 53:47 [4] 6.1 km (8:49 / km) +185m 7:39 / km
18c

Running the Long Advanced course after the Varsity course went pretty well. I made some mistakes (the major ones were not due to the lack of trails, surprisingly!) but really enjoyed practicing looking at vegetation and contours instead of just relying on trails all the time.

Rollerskiing 45:00 [3]

Nice rollerski with my dad before soccer practice.

Soccer 1:30:00 [3]

Pretty normal soccer practice. I didn't run the usual sprints because I went rollerskiing earlier in the day.

Soccer 2:30:00 [3]

Normal soccer practice, and then a teammate and I stayed and practiced later with the team 2 years younger. Didn't get much out of it skill-wise, but the extra running was nice.
