Note
(sick)

My sickness went from coming on to here in a span of about 1.5 hours. Was supposed to go to soccer practice but decided to stay in and rest instead. Hoping to catch up on sleep this weekend which I think will help tremendously

Running intervals 34:59 [5] 3.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
(sick) shoes: Asics Gel Excite 3

Decided to do a workout which maybe wasn't the best idea since I haven't been running... The plan was 5x 600m, at 2:30 (I wanted to take it slowly since I haven't done intervals for a while). Instead I did 4x 600m at 2:26, 2:20, 2:19, 2:20. Fast felt good but I stopped after 4x since my calves and quads were seizing up. Not having been running certainly didn't help, but also I'm getting sick :( more sleep would be the best way to keep it from becoming a full-on cold but I don't think that's going to happen this week. ~1mi warm up and 1mi cool down

Orienteering race 16:39 [5] 2.8 mi (5:57 / mi) +45m 5:40 / mi
21c

NAOC sprint! I was actually very nervous for this race since the last sprint I did was at JWOC, and it went very poorly. The cemetery confused me a little on the first leg, but but overall the first half of the course went really well. As I went through the arena, the announcers said I was tied for first with Siri (incorrect, it was actually Julia) which made me really try push for the last loop. By that point I was very tired, my flow was essentially gone, and I made a pretty sizable mistake on 18. Finished the race and pushed to the end, knowing that I was really close to Siri (actually Julia). Very happy with how this race went!
12 PM

Orienteering race 14:20 [5] 2.4 mi (5:58 / mi)
19c

Sprint relay. I was the final leg, which I'm not used to running, but it was fine. I was very tired from the morning's sprint, and I went out at the same time as Pia, vying for the top junior spot, which pushed me more than I think I would have gone if we weren't close to each other. I only saw her at the beginning, but I wasn't sure if we had different forkings or not. We won the relay!

Orienteering race 1:18:12 [3] 6.0 km (13:02 / km) +215m 11:03 / km
17c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Overall a pretty good race for me. I kept contact with the map really well the whole time, and only had one mistake from losing contact. A couple more little mistakes along the way, but nothing too bad.

Orienteering race 34:10 [3] 3.7 km (9:14 / km) +110m 8:02 / km
shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Good race for me! I didn't go into this with much confidence because I haven't been orienteering much since this summer, but I felt really good on this course.

Other 40:00 [3]

Intramural volleyball game, but the other team was a no-show so we ended up splitting and playing ourselves instead. Team potatoes for the win!

Running 15:00 [3] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

First soccer game of the season, and we won 1-0! I got a fair amount of playing time also which was a lot of fun. The girls are all really good and really nice so I'm excited for the upcoming season

10 AM

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)
13c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Orienteering with Ethan and Izzy! It was really good for me to get out on a map again. I had trouble in the middle, but the beginning and the end went alright. I wouldn't mind getting in some more practice before NAOC but college is definitely busy so we'll see.

Also my watch is broken so for a while times and distances will be inaccurate :(
2 PM

Soccer 3:00:00 [3]

Club soccer tryouts at Northeastern. I think I have a decent shot at making the team, but I'm not sure if I want to play for them or not. First of all, I have to see if I make it, and if I do, then see what the commitment is, talk with the girls a little bit, and decide based on that. There's another day of tryouts tomorrow afternoon.

This is probably the hardest I've worked out for a while and it felt really good. I'll be sore tomorrow!

Strength 15:00 [3]

Abs and some weights

Running 10:00 [3]

I ran for a bit on the indoor track just to check it out. I didn't do much since I wasn't in actual running shoes

Monday Sep 5, 2016 #

Note

Club fair is tomorrow where I'll learn more about the running club. I don't know anywhere to run around here yet, so hopefully they'll start practicing this week and I can get back into the running thing.
*For now, trekking up 9 flights of stairs a couple times a day will have to do.
8 AM

Strength 23:00 [3]

11min core (planks + 6min core routine)
4x 10 bicep curls 10lbs
2x 30 calf raises 10lbs
3x 10 dumbbell fly 5lbs
3x 10 not sure what it's called. It's where you lie on a bench with two hands on a weight and lower it behind your head and bring it back up over your head again 20lbs

The gym at northeastern is really nice, although I do have to walk far-ish to get there.
