JIRCs Relay - Team 5th - 1st on leg - Results

Finlay did a good job on first leg not losing too much time, but then Joe had a bit of a re-entrant nightmare on 2nd leg so I was sent out a fair way back.

Started out hard and nailed the first two controls, pushing hard and straight through the heather. Nearly lost it by counting the wrong nunber of paths to 3 but realised in time and corrected quickly. After this the legs started to slow a bit but the nav held up well with only time loss coming from not taking the optimal micro routes, so I could soon see Alasdair Pedley up ahead.

Came through spec 30s down on him. Kept my calm and didn't put the foot down immediately, hitting the controls and staying in control. When I did decide to put in an effort it was because he'd taken a slower route and I thought I could get past, pushed on but started feeling sick do slowed up again. After that never really opened up again and in hindsight should have had another dig to catch and get past him. Went for it on the run in but by then it was too little too late. 3 seconds back. Grrr.

Anyway apart from the ending I was very pleased with my race. No mistakes of such and only thing which could have been better was my physical shape. Big confidence booster going into JEC.

JIRCs Individual - Winterfold - 2nd - Results

Started quite aggressively for me which lead to the first mistake at #3, calmed down after that and felt cruisey and in control till the road crossing. Losing quite a lot of time on the long legs and #10 where I went straight so still a bit down at the crossing.

Didn't take long there just jogged through in about 30s and carried on. Caught a Tim and Tom wood train soon after, tried to keep my cool and not increase the speed but after a few controls i got a bit excited, didn't check the compass enough leaving 19 and lost about 1 min looking for 20.

After that fairly clean just little misses like trying to find the run in... Also managed to shake Tim on the long leg when I slowed to take a gel and then took a different route to him.

Alright days work but just too scrappy, physically felt ok, legs a bit heavy at times but not too bad really.

2km Threshold [2 mins], 5 *400m [1min].

Easier session because neither of us were feeling up to the 8s. And my legs still shafted from the weekend which isn't ideal. Anyway got it done, felt a bit dire but hey no hopefully legs will recover by the weekend.

XT (Turbo) 30:00 [1]
ahr:111 max:129 (rest day) shoes: Giro Triple

On the turbo, had plans for a ride but when I got home the bike was missing, as was mum. Grrr. Anyway probs for the best since I felt a tad coldy today and legs a bit domsy from the weekends activities.

Still undecided about the rest of the week, want it to be easy to recover from an ok block of training and to freshen up before jircs/ JEC. But also want a hard session in there. Hmmm. Will see how I'm feeling tomorrow.

S & C (Maintenance) 9:00 [1]

No core, again keeping on the safe side.
