Forest Sprint, 75% effort

Fallen in love with orienteering again. Couldn't get out onto anywhere fancy today, however, Escot ended up being such a fun area with some really technical forest sections as well as fast parkland.

The main focus for this was having a really good picture built into my plan. Obviously picturing what vegetation 5 years out of date would look like is never easy although I'd claim I met my target. My only 'big' mistake came when I went down a path one junction early. Gonna put this down to me not paying enough attention whilst on paths as well as being too impatient.

Again the physical side I'm happy with, felt smooth through terrain and never too tired, canny ask for more considering its been a solid week.

Overall a good outing even if my legs did get stung and ripped to shreds. I know what to work on for next time ;)

Long course (just below race effort)

Avoiding going all out during training right now as I'm still easing myself back into it after a long absence. Planned this course a while back and I must say I'm happy with how it turned out to be 75min 'winning time'.

In terms of my navigation it was surprisingly good especially once I was about 30mins deep. Doesn't feel like my ability has dropped off too much it's just a case of having to remind myself of the techniques. By no means was the nav perfect, ended up losing time on several controls mainly because of bad picture which I normally don't have much of a problem with. I think this might have been because I was so focused on developing a good plan and the fact that I didn't print out a loose CD.

Physically I felt strong through the terrain and could feel my rusty nav stopping me from moving much faster.

First time orienteering in over 4 months.........
Also the first time running in my new inov8's I got in February. 60-70% effort, easy o round Ashclyst (jungle) getting my head back in the game will move onto some higher class o training soon. All together felt clean nav wise and pretty strong through the terrain.

4* 4:30min hill repeats, each had about 90m of climb
+ it also was good descending practise, was thinking of what Bash would say

Was pretty brutal and at the end of the last rep I throw up (never done this before). Had a horrible taste in my mouth for the long trek home. All in all I felt this was a decent session and will be doing it again, just wont put so much skippy on me toast.

Woke up too late to use the school feild so had to use a really small one which meant the GPS was never gonna be good. Then after the first two reps got some bad blisters so had to finish the session in daily trainers (was slipping all over the shop). Anyway the effort was where I wanted it but the pace was just very slow.
