Jungle Run at Kerncliffe. Not too technical, a fair bit of trail running, but fun none the less.

Tried to take at a fast speed since don't do too much of that at the moment. Lost a bit over a minute at 61, since I didn't realize there was flagging tape instead of flags on controls visible or close to trails.

Then I also doubled back a couple times to a control, after zoning out a little and running past said control without "mentally punching" it. Seemed a little like running past a go-control without punching it, so didn't want to DQ myself.

Course from Morgan Firestone parking lot. Nice and enjoyable. Just picked some control features and made legs I hadn’t run, or at least can’t remember running.

Also conveniently missed all the thorns, and just getting some enjoyable green/scrappiness.

Run down to Dundas so an extra 130m going downhill

Warm-up jog over to Ancaster high

running intervals 36:00 [4] 9.65 km (3:44 / km)

4x 3,2,1 min w/ 1 min rest on each.

Running around the grass field at the back of the highschool. Just trying to keep each interval at different speed. 3s more on the comfortable side, 2s around threshold, and then trying to turn over the legs on the 1s.

running 8:30 [1] 1.7 km (5:00 / km)

Trying to let my bowels die down a little before running back

A nice rain forest feel to the Dundas valley.

Some green overgrown trails, 30 degrees, and the feeling of trying to breathe water

running warm up/down 15:00 [1] 2.75 km (5:27 / km)

Rode over to mcmaster to run the COC's sprint from 2013. Originally planned on running Sprint-ervals, however I realized making a sprint training the day before kind of defeats the purpose of it being a technical training.

I'll give myself 15 mins since 10 min jog, then exercises + strides.
11 AM

orienteering - General 15:00 [4] 3.62 km (4:09 / km)

COC's sprint 2013.

Forgot about the athletic fields/track being closed so just started from the top of the double staircases going from the track up to the stadium walkway, and the corner of the fence just to the west of #1 was my "start triangle".
...Also couldn't get to the finish so just ran to same point I started from in an effort to keep about the same distance.

I knew there was now a building where 15 was, so I just moved the control to spot where I kept the distance of the course essentially the same. I didn't realize there was a lot of small construction though, so a couple times I got the benefit of skipping the last 10m to a control, but generally, it did a little more of adding distance to my route choices.

Quite smooth technically, only taking the wrong route choices a couple times (granted only loosing a second on them). I tried not to look at the map too much before hand, but it does help I know the map quite well and ran the course in 2017 (I think?).

Quite a bit slower then will in 2013, but I suppose I can't expect too much not having run a race since March.

running intervals 16:00 [4] 4.11 km (3:54 / km)

A few minutes rest and then jogging over to oval to do some intervals.

4x 3 min [1 min], deciding to bail on the 5th due to a combination of legs sore and getting pretty toasty outside.
12 PM

running 8:00 [1] 1.45 km (5:31 / km)

Running back to the bike + the 3 minutes running over to the oval.

Easy run, not feeling that easy this morning.

Still have one t-rex arm, and whatever muscles are below my armpits are still quite sore to run.

Note

60-75 minutes riding bike around today. Tempted to log riding up Wilson
