I am really tired... I have been having some loooooong days

I did 1-18 of Leif's epic elite course! Made a distracted route choice to 1 as I was being heckled off the start by the course planner and o-chums. It was a fun way to start but not ideal for the complexity of the sprint leg...I recovered alrightish. I focused again for a wee bit but then fell into day dreaming and so I didn't fight it and just enjoyed my run and the course.

Learned about the history of Sumas Valley the traditional land of the Sto:lo Nation. The area was a massive life filled lake until the 1920s when it was drained. Marion Road is the centre of the lake. Now the area is fertile farm land and turf is the main crop along Marion Road...

Day 2:

Best practices for growing vegetables. How to completely get all the meat (cuts) off a whole chicken as well as how to do the same for a salmon including all the various fillet cuts! Favourite part was all of it - I'd never done that much hands on meat work and now I want to make a salmon dinner - who's in?!

Sub'd on Craig's team

I hit well every time I was up to bat and got to run the bases. R field was pretty dead most all of the game. Soft/Baseball is relatively boring to watch but I quite enjoy playing :D

I feel like noting down what I am learning at my Agriculture course. The course is a mixture of learning about agriculture practices and controversies and hands on food prep and use skills. Also, we get to visit different farms to speak with farmers and talk with industry peoples.

Day 1!

Knife skills, vegetable cuts, how to make mayonnaise from scratch, and how to use it as a base to make ranch dressing.
6 PM

Ultimate 1:02:52 intensity: (10 @0) + (28:52 @1) + (18:52 @2) + (10:46 @3) + (3:58 @4) + (14 @5) 3.24 km (19:24 / km) +2m 19:21 / km
ahr:150 max:187 shoes: Nike Hypervenom Cleats

1 female sub for the whole team... so swapping genders lots.

Really annoys me when the same people who refuse to let the team take on more players because it might infringe on their playing time are the same people who randomly don't show up, don't tell the team until the last minute, and don't find a sub for themselves when they are away or injured - RUDE!

The whole point of a larger roster is so that life can happen and people can take off or become injured without it impacting the team. #rant

WCOC 2017 W21 Long @ Cypress River Sand Hills

RG | Splits by Course

I won the split to 1 lolz

Struggle fest from 2-3... Looking at the GPS I was executing my plan up until I didn't recognize what vegetation 'ridge' I was on.... figured it out... felt silly/dumb, and then navigated simply to 3 le sigh. I was quite happy that I was able to solve the problem and make meaning of what I had done from 2-3 and so felt at peace when deciding to dnf.

At the time I got to 3 I recognized I wouldn't have the time to finish the course before the 3hr time limit was up. So I picked up what I could as I navigated west to the road and back to the finish.

Each course is a learning experience and I feel like I learned A LOT!

WCOC 2017 W21 Sprint @ Cypress River Sand Hills

RG | Splits by Course

S-1 careful and hooked around
1-2 went pretty straight to it but it came up much faster than anticipated
2-3 straight here too but I overran a wee bit as it came up faster than anticipated spotted it over my left shoulder
3-4 boom!
4-5 hesitant, scary foliage, burrs, Will twice, then CONTROL!
5-6 ricocheted in off the little hill to the north
6-7-8-9-F straightforward
2 PM

WCOC 2017 W21 Middle @ Cypress River Sand Hills

RG | Splits by Course

My most enjoyable race :D

Once I conquered the long leg from 1-2 which was hesitant until I passed by 7 then I was good. Indecisive after 3 trying to decide to go straight on the same route I'd taken to 2... I dithered then choose the latter. Misread what 4 was as what 3 was so that took a minute. Straightforward to 8 made the correct route choice! The 1:10,000 made more sense to me than the sprint had.

So damn HOT out!

Toddling around on the model map. Quite overwhelming so I took it slow and checked out lots of things. Plus I have never been so scared of vegetation... WTF does poison ivy look like?!?!
