Event: OLOU Score-O

Note
(rest day)

OLOU Highschool Champs - Score-O

Weather was fine, if a bit cold. I skipped yet another chance to O because I wanted to rest the knee. Even if it's mostly on soft surfaces, 3hrs worth of running around can't be good for it.

ICO Cataract Void, or MVOC Turkey Hunt

Running (Road) 50:50 [2] 5.85 mi (8:41 / mi)
ahr:139 max:166 shoes: Asics Gel-DS Trainer 13

Mid 40s, light rain, windy - T-day training group run from PBS. We did a preview of the course. When I woke up to check the weather, I saw 47F and wrongly assumed it was short-t and shorts weather. Little did I know the wind and cold rain (plus dropping temps) would make the run somewhat miserable. By the end I could hardly feel my reddened forearms and frozen fingers! I'm pretty sure I was radiating the coldness thru my sweater and jacket for quite a while afterwards. At least I had a nice conversation with Christine M. and the L-knee seem to be fine running at this slower pace.

With weather conditions supposedly worsening and a full schedule for the day, I convinced myself skipping Bill Yeck was the wise decision.

Running (Trail) 41:00 [2] * 3.24 mi (12:39 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Attack 3

Mid 50s, mostly clear - Easy trail run w/ headlamp in French Park. Heather, Tim, and newcomer Laura were there to join me as well. We had the whole park to ourselves. There were occasional slight hints of discomfort in L-knee, but running on trail in very slow pace doesn't seem to bother it much. I'll try some O on Sat and see what happens. Saw a few deers, and a nice looking near full moon rising.

Stretching warm up/down 10:00 [0]

Strength (Calisthenics) 10:00 [2]

Planks and push-ups.

Finally finished with my NYC race report.
Here are the official race photos.

Running (Road) 49:30 [2] 6.64 mi (7:27 / mi) +101m 7:07 / mi
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus+ 2007

~40F, light drizzle - T-day training group run from Crossroads. We did a 50min out-n-back down Brotherton and then up Erie - 2 long sustained hill climbs. Legs were fine. They still don't have the faster gears. Discomfort in L-knee again during run, particularly on downhills. No noticeable pain or soreness at start, nor when stopped. I'll try to the trails on Thursday and see if orienteering may be ok. This is probably a sign telling me to call it a season...
