Orienteering 41:19 [5] 5.82 km (7:06 / km) +241m 5:53 / km
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 285

A pretty good start through to 5 which I knew was a tricky but couldn't get things to fit and dropped about 35sec. Not too bad through to 15 after that, small drifts at 8 and 12. 15 wasn't a mistake just very hesitant in some vagueish rock.

17 wasnt good, misread some rock which I thought was just before but was actually just after the control and dropped late into it. I had passed Greg B at 15 and he exited 17 before me about 1.20 lost. Lost the same again at 18, couldn't get things to fit & there seemed to be more rock than mapped.

I went right to 19, maybe too far right, not too sure but walking up the hill made me glad to avoid climb. Finally, lost another 25sec drifting low on 21.

Another missed opportunity for a result but I definitely didn't have the pace for sub 38

Orienteering race (Aust Long Champs) 1:41:33 [5]
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 285

11th.

Not a lot of expectation for this with buggar all long runs in the last two months. Pretty smooth until 6 where the mind wondered and I was off to the the left and then sloppy through 7,8,9 even though I was telling myself to get it together. Good through to 12 but I didn't drink at 7 as it was too early and by 12 I was n a bit of a low. Left on 16 and I was getting grumpy as I had been falling over so much all course.

I was ready to finish from about 18 onward and just slugged through the rest, continually falling over and generally over it. Ran the last loop with Andy and dropped about 70sec on 28 which cost a couple of places and then happy to finish.

Lack of terrain & endurance fitness really showed, I was a mess but I guess 11th isn't too bad a return for what felt like a horrible run.

Keen as mustard for the middle and relay but hills aren't a strong suit either!!

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
