Control point where I had a time loss Time loss Reason for time loss
#1 47 seconds Hesitation and time to adjust to the map scale
#4 39 seconds Sub optimal Route choice, I could have taken the route to #4 from the opening of the clearing in the north east
#5 1 min 23 seconds Hesitation after losing the arm of my map board, just hesitated in finding that control although it was super easy, I could avoid it
#9 41 seconds Hesitations inside the school

Highlights

Win splits
http://obasen.orientering.se/winsplits/online/en/d... won 2 splits 2 seconds
 Given the issues with my map board I think I can be pleased about the results both from speed perspective and navigation

Things to improve

 Map reading add hesitations
 There was no reason to mock control #1! at all

Rank in the race: 3rd

Overall, a good event and not a bad execution with some potential to improve as I hesitated in some points. The splits suggest I won 2 splits and 2nd in two others. Despite major mechanical issues, lost suspension completely and broken map board in the middle of the race. Well…. podium is podium so can’t be disappointed, however I think I was able to finish second at the very least.

Middle distance summary

Control point where I had a time loss Time loss Reason for time loss

#8 4 min and 36 seconds Navigation mistake, should approached this control from south west via the clearing, instead I have tried to be smart approaching it from north and failed
#10 12 min 46 seconds Map misreading
I simply went from 9 straight to #11 but realised it only at #12 throwing to the trash the opportunity to beat Michael Ridllely Smith to the bean!
#15 5 min 40 seconds Navigation mistake
It often happens to me that I have become disoriented after leaving singles back to the fire tracks. Why can ‘I just stop and look on the map before I am wondering where I am?

Things to improve

• Map reading add hesitations
• There was no reason to mock control #10! at all
• Stop for few seconds when leaving singles back to the fire tracks!

Rank in the race: 4th

If there was a day when I had the best opportunity to beat MRS today was the day! But instead I made sure I threw this opportunity to the bean by doing a massive mistake with control #10 (just skipping it from some reason). Splits suggest I was 2nd at control 7 I won 2 splits and took 5 seconds. Yes, I and issues with the suspension and fell twice, that is just an excuse, but I must be stronger than my excuses! For god sake.
Well… I can please by my performance of half of this race which was more longish than middle distance event by its nature. Lesson learned? Hopefully!

Sprint training around little bay, pretty happy with my average speed, map board eye contact and slow down when it was required to look on details (#8-#10) something I often not doing very well! I will need to dig deep into my legs this weekend and also ensure I bring my brain to QLD...too.
