MTBO Race 1:52:51 [4] 29.66 km (15.8 kph) +537m
shoes: GIANT XTC 29er 2016

Navigation went well today out of one brain fade in which I was lucky to be towed by Dalto when it happened, my lack of single ride training meant I am too slow on the downhills..happy with my climbing speed though. Some sub optimal route choices to CP 15 (took the single), and has some hesitations around CP12 otherwise pretty happy with this event.

Keen to see the split to CP6 as I think I have made a good route choice there.

Summary to follow..

MTBO Race race 45:02 [4] 12.95 km (17.3 kph) +109m
shoes: GIANT XTC 29er 2016

http://obasen.orientering.se/winsplits/online/en/d...

Three control points where I lost time:

CP5: I was skipping the control so had to come back (reason for time loss: Navigation error/loss of focus), time loss of 2:30 min
CP 16: Went out of the single straight into the wrong street, time loss of 1:11 min
CP 20: a bit of hesitation and looking on the map, time loss of 28 seconds

Total time loss was approx.: 4 minutes and 9 seconds

Time without mistakes should have been: 40-41 minutes

My navigation was almost clean; map reading went well and I can’t explain why I have skipped CP5, but I noticed others also lost time on that specific CP.

Good things: almost clean from mistakes, my route choice to CP10 was proven to be fast as the split was 4th best.

Things to improve: I can ride faster, but apparently Craig’s starva suggesting he rode only 18.7KPH while I was riding 17.5KPH so not far behind. Have to reduce time loss and therefore the extra distance I cover…

My stats:

Distance: 12.9 km
Time: 45
Average speed: 17.5 kph which is similar to what I have done in the training sessions in Centennial Park
Elevation: 191 mt

Craig’s stats:

Distance 10.9km
Time: 35.09
Climb: 171m
Speed 18.7KPH

The major difference was that I rode 2KM more which 1.5km of them is due to the two mistakes!

MTBO Race (Middle distance ) 1:26:03 [4] 19.12 km (13.3 kph) +408m
shoes: GIANT XTC 29er 2016

Climbing went well, navigation felt better this time..and the margin to the next few places was in reach..summary to follow

Three control points where I lost time:

CP3: there was a better route choice which could have taken, time loss of 2:57 min
CP 8: the control was located northern to the pond, with so many other objects it would have been better if I stopped earlier to look on the detail, time loss of 1:47
CP 9: 28 should have taken the single, so sub optimal route choice, time loss of 2:13

Total time loss was approx.: 6 min and 17 seconds

Time without mistakes could have been:  1 hr 18-19 min

Good things: Climbed well and efficiently

Things to improve: I can ride faster, but apparently not fast enough in the singles better route choices especially after CP 2 and 8

My stats:

Distance: 19 km
Time: 1hr 26 min
Average speed: 14kph
Elevation: 419 mt

Winner’s stats:

https://www.strava.com/activities/1218526844

Distance 15.8km
Time: 1 hr
Climb: 484 m
Speed 15.6KPH

I think most of the splits I came last or second last, a proof that I was not fast enough in this course

MTBO Race race 1:19:47 [3] 23.32 km (17.5 kph) +436m
shoes: GIANT XTC 29er 2016

Practice event for the national champs..all went well! could have done better route choice to CP 237, ran late by 4 minutes so got 4 points penalty.. great map and enjoyable area to ride..https://www.strava.com/activities/1217288098#kudos
Pretty happy with my ride today, need to increase cadence in the long legs.

3rd on the M40 category does not really matter.
