Running race 29:11 [3] 7.9 km (3:42 / km)
shoes: Adios Boost Aug 2017
8k test
Wanted to start slow and see how it felt, around 3:40 pace. Last year I was way too fast the first km (3:20) and payed for it. Goal was to just try and slip under 29min as a target to beat for training this spring. But I feel like training has gone overall a bit better this year than last, so I had last year's time of 28:19 in the back of my head.
Stuck with the plan though and opened in 3:40 behind Hinken, we then caught Måns and ran 3:40 again for the second km. Perfect. Felt pretty good despite a heavy stomach.
Got a bit complacent though and stayed behind them until the second hill after 3k. Realized then that it was a bit too slow and that I would have to surge ahead. Cruised the flats on my own and got to the halway mark at 15:20 or so. Way too slow!
Pushed harder in the second half, frustrated that I was so slow. Was on my own though so it was tough to keep the motivation up. Was also getting annoyed swerving around people (only 1m wide of ice-free path in parts). Coasted in to the finish feeling relatively fresh.
Too cushy for a test race, but hopefully a time to crush in a few months. Might have another crack at racing this weekend with a 10k.
