Training on the ski hill map. Fairly rough terrain, but nice. Was fun running in the torrential downpour that came down on us 2/3 of the way through. And to jump in the lake afterwards.

Warmup and then progressive 'snabbdistans' on the 18 and 10. Had trouble keeping up with Junis on the small rocky trails but felt quite strong in the less rocky parts and on the bigger trails. Had a really strong finish up the big climb to Brudaremossen.

Good to be back running fast with GMOK, even if I'm quite sore now...

Jukola Training chasing start

Ran pretty well to the forked first control, but then went a bit off-line to 2. Was surprised to see Mikael and Martin so close behind to 2, but it turns out they were going to their longer forks to 1, which were actually bit shorter. Strand caught me going into 2 and I couldn't stay with after 3. Got really tired and hot to 4 and a bit bummed thinking everyone had got ahead of me somehow. After sighting the flag at 5 while heading down the hill to it I tripped and flew a few metres, smashing my right thigh on a stump. Layed on the ground for a minute or two before getting up and walking to 6. Mikael and Martin ran by a minute later, damn wasn't doing so bad after all! Need to be better at staying positive while running, and not getting all rushed and impatient which maybe led to the fall. Anyways, went to 6 just because it was on the way, because it was pretty clear that I wouldn't be running the pain off. Took me a good 40min to hobble back to the car.

Looks like I gots the 'dead leg'. There goes another 3 or 4 days... :( At least the knee felt ok!

An annual 14k trail race up in Dalsland where Daniel is from. Was totally unprepared for it, with the knee, lingering sore throat, and only a few hours sleep. Was ok though, but felt like I was red-lining it the whole way. Was in the lead pack for the first few km's but got tired quickly and dropped off with a few others. After 5k we followed the leaders down a wrong turn, since the flagging from the kids race wasn't taken down. After a few minutes of head scratching with the others we ran back to find the tape removed, by Daniel as it turns out, who knows the real course. Wasn't really annoyed since it meant I got a bit of a rest, and could get a boost by passing all the people back. The only one I didn't catch back was Daniel, who was 5s ahead at the finish. Could see him ahead with a few k left, but just couldn't quite reel him in. It made for a fun finish though, and was good that I was fighting right to the line. Knee wasn't too bad on the nice small trails. A great way to spend a sunny Nationaldagen!

Start was pretty good. Was in the lead after 3 controls. Took a bad route to 4 though, after getting flustered by a bunch of people at the punch. Lost a lot of time in and out of 5 though, going above some cliffs both times. A dumb control, and I think the map should have been clearer there. The rest was easy, but I felt super exhausted the whole second half. Not surprising with the past two weeks though, and then getting sick.
