Orienteering 52:00 [3]
shoes: Inov 8 X Talon (July 11)
After 4 silvers, I really wanted to get a gold in the last race. Put a lot of pressure on myself, which was a mistake on this really technical map.
1 and 2 were fine, and I was starting to feel more and more confident with the map. Was in control to 3, but half way through I tripped and went head first into a depression. Got a bit shaken up, and even though I knew exactly where I was I think it ruined my concentration going into the control. Didn't drop the contour needed to see the control feature and instead made a parallel error to another spur. Should have been able to relocate fairly easily, but I was super flustered and lost 5min or something. Really annoyed and distracted after this. Probably could have done a 'restart' and still have an ok result, but because I was so eager to win and had already lost there wasn't much hope...
After big mistakes to 9 and 10 I got super frustrated and jogged the rest. Not a great end to a fantastic week of orienteering, but a good lesson learned.
