Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #24) 46:45 [5] *** 9.02 km (5:11 / km) +143m 4:48 / km
spiked:23/23c shoes: Asics Kayano 20

Wasn't planning on running but had to collect stuff for Sunday's Sprint and also a few people mentioned I was winning the overall Summer Series so needed to run 2 of the last 3 events to maintain lead.

Got there really late so no time to plan. Ended up picking a decent route though. Tried to cruise around the course at 70-80% but probably was hitting 90% by the end as was trying to get back on time and before the storm rolled in. Route at the end changed as it got so bloody dark so quickly. Finished 2nd on 480 points but way behind SteveR.

Orienteering race (NOL Sprint Final) 18:49 [5] ***

UNSW

Started ok through first half. Got caught by Tim Effeney when I took the left road route to 13. From there hung onto the back of him at a bit faster pace than the first half. Didn't really lose much time on the course, maybe a number of 5-10 sec errors. Finished mid-field about 3 minutes behind Oscar McN. Seemed to have lost all my pace lately, hopefully the endurance is still there for next week but I guess that's what I've been building up for.

Orienteering race (NOL Sprint Relay) 14:04 [5] ***

Sydney University in team with Lisa, Brooner, Tracy.

Lisa did well to finish in the main pack. Fast pace from the start and tired pretty quickly. Overran the very short first control then stupidly took the long left route to 2. Got thrown out by the underpass which wasn't mapped as oob, even though I knew it was oob. From there was stuck between two groups. Couldn't make ground on the one in front of me but held off the other. A bit off the pace.

Brooner has a great run and Tracy finished off nicely to put us in 6th.

Orienteering race (NOL Sprint Qualification) 14:59 [5] ***
spiked:18/21c shoes: Asics Kayano 19 (2)

Started last in the stacked A heat. First control took a bad route choice through the sand dunes, as did many others. Wasted time on 4 trying to fight through the green and misread the code on 8. Really struggled for speed in 2nd half through the parkland. Finished 11th in heat, about 2 min down on Max Neve.
